Thanks @Leeski I think the pH might be too high causing a Zinc deficiency. Part of the soil mix I made is coco coir (20%), which apparently can cause pH issues. Going to try to water in a bit of Sulfur and see if the pH drop clears things up. If not, I have a foliar spray that has Zinc in it.

Curious if anyone has seen this type of yellowing on new leaves. They do seem to grow out of it, but it's pretty intense yellow. No burnt leaf tips. Organic soil mix I made. Topdressed with BAS Craft blend last week. A week later (today)

Yup, I'd till once adding all the amendments and prep it to be sustainable for the future. Really hard to loosen compacted soil by adding things on top. Might take years to see a difference. You might have better luck from a farming forum. This sounds bigger scale than most people's no-till...

I have some unsprouted 2-row barley seed I bought to grow, and it didn't give me enough yield for brewing beer. I'm considering sprouting it, blending it and using it as a top dress then covering with straw. Is that what you guys would do with barley seeds lying around?

Yea there's a reason a standard potting mix is 1/3 coco or peat, 1/3 perlite or aeration, 1/3 compost. There's wiggle room for experimentation but I'd never do 90%+ of one of these 3. Unless of course you do 100% coco and want to feed every 3 hrs. Not for me :D

You could pick up a 2 cu/ft $20 bag of perlite at Home Depot and mix that in. Better safe than sorry when it comes to root compaction. I have some perennial hops in 20 gal pots with super compact soil. I regret not taking the time to aerate it because there's no turning back once it's...
