I really like my milk crate for sitting on when watering the ladies. It's the right height not too tall not too small.

I would just add the led to the hps if space / heat permits. The led will add a nice boost in spectrum.

I'm in canada too. I had a bad thrip infestation last spring. I cut everything down in June and didn't grow until end of August. Not a single thrip yet. Hopefully that makes growing again less scary. But always be keeping an eye out for signs.
