    CXB-8 Grow Journal

Errr, sorry. I was thinking about 1 of your lights being 2 lights of mine. I mean I could build 3, which would be 1 1/2 :) But still, you can build what you are doing for $800 without big discounts.... No R&D is worth the cost. Just my opinion. And I have shit talked all of those premade...

24 cxb3590? What are you talking about? Straight from his website: Leds 8 x CXB3590-35G-CD-ROH-0001 Drivers 2 x Meanwell HLG Lense 80° 100 mm $1699 And you cannot convince me that you are paying more than $1000 for 12 CXB3590 CD...... I understand shops need to make money. You have R&D...

    CXB-8 Grow Journal

Ok, so include actual draw and the delivered wattage. Not all users are knowledgeable on the subject like we are and will believe that the "draw" is the actual wattage. Just my opinion of course, what do I know other than it seems that everyone who is building lights now also complained at...

    CXB-8 Grow Journal

It might draw 440, but to each COB you are only getting about 196-200 actual wattage from the lighting. This is normal. Not sure why you chose to advertise it as 450w draw @ 120v instead of 400w of actual lighting. IMO, the way people look at the grow lighting world will never change till...

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

For my first build, I went with heatsinks from HUSA. Next build, I am thinking about trying something different. Found these on ebay and looks like they will work fine. Frostytech did a tech on CPU which rated them @ 46c on a 125w heat load. Should be plenty considering I will only have a...

Help me please for mount and connect the CXB3070 and the solderless Holders

As far as the Ideal holder on the heatsink, just turn it 90 degrees so you can screw it into your heatsink. You can use some tapping screws, grab some m3 threaded 1/2 screws and tap the holes you drill. As far as wiring, you can see a + sign imprinted on the COB holder. Insert the cob into...

    Simple and Reasonable Suggestions Please

Here is some reading material. If you spend a week reading through the vast amount of information that many people have graciously provided, you will understand. I too was overwhelmed at first with the LED tech. I dug into it and began reading. Within a week, I was ordering parts. First...

    Simple and Reasonable Suggestions Please

He could probably light a 4x4 area and get as good as a 600w w/ 8xCXB3070 and do it for $600. Might not be the prettiest, or the most ideal setup, but it can be done. I would take 400w of CXB3070 @ 48% efficiency over a 600w HID any day. This if course if OP is willing to spend a little more...

    Simple and Reasonable Suggestions Please

Whats your current average yield? You can nearly bank on 1g/w with COBS with much more than that easily possible. If you are used to yielding 200g in your area, then $400 will get you a COB setup that should do just as well.

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

Top right of the page you linked, there is a drop down box for Current Range. Change that and you will have more options. I just put in CXB3070 w/ CB bin and was able to retrieve the numbers for everything.

    (4) CXB3070 3000K AD @ 1.4A = 200W 48% efficient 96 PAR W $130 + $52.5 $1.90/PAR W (4) CXB3590 3500K CD @ 1.4A = 196W 56.2% efficient 110 PAR W $186 + $52.50 $2.17/PAR W Not a huge difference in price per P/W. (Kingbrite prices) Also, you get more PPFD for the area utilizing the 3590. If...

    New setup ideas

Yes. I replaced a 1000w w/ 400w of CXB3070 (not as efficient, only 45% prior to loss) and ran the same strain in the same area. While I yielded less, my gram per watt doubled. I yielded a little over 600g with a 1000w on the same strain (both grows were clones of same plant), same grow area...

    New setup ideas

Well, you figure on a 1000w HPS setup w/ a hood/glass, you will be getting about 25% efficiency on it so 250 PAR Watts (give or take, depends upon the age of the bulb as well). With the CXB3590 CD, if you run them at 1.4a @ 36v on a HLG-185-1400, you will get about 56% efficiency. Figure in...
