I gotta be honest - I definitely took a really good look at those before building my current light. The HLG 288s won because I like my diodes spread over a larger area. I particularly like the rail system rapidLED has for building light fixtures... A set of those pucks with 2 of their red...

Seriously! I can't wait until the R-Spec 288s are available without having to buy the HLG550

I do very much like red initiation - but these pucks could be better. The 4 diodes all being centered on the board is not a great design IMO. Next light(s) I build I'm going to use the new HLG far red strips. Certainly less expensive and although they have fewer diodes the light footprint...

    Epic 4x4 Flowering Smackdown : 96 Elites vs 288s

Whoops - wet weights posted already... if they lose the typical 75-80% weight though my prediction doesn't look too bad...

Both ~12oz dry - more small buds on right, fewer big buds on left. Left = 96, right = 288?

As a 100% unrelated point... NOTIFICATIONS!! I'm just gonna bookmark my watched threads page. Clearly the notifications are unreliable. Lol

Yeah I use silica. I find it helps the plants tolerate wider ranges for air temp/RH than they may otherwise be able to. It's great for me because although I do control these variables, I don't have complete 100% control. I can get to a good range and keep it happy but I have difficulty...

Same - I'm gonna use the average wattage in bloom for my final calc. I ranged from 300-345w - probably averaged 325-330 (more time spent on the higher end of that wattage than the lower end)...

100% on that last point. Given my primary interest is efficiency, I'll still be keen to see the grams-per-watt math... The results here may impact what I set up for my tent later this year (unless 288v2s or v3s with RSpec are more readily available then...)

    Epic 4x4 Flowering Smackdown : 96 Elites vs 288s

I'll be particularly interested in the grams per watt figure. I think that's the closest we're gonna get to apples-to-apples...
