If you're concerned about light leaks, get in with your plants at lights out. Sit in the dark at least 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust.

I've been doing that with hot Canna mix..but I just add some compost, worm casts and clay pebbles for aeration and use straight away...

I don't think they'll be eating your roots if there's enough plant matter on the surface for them to munch on, red wrigglers are top feeders after all... And they eat dead worms ( :spew: ) Seems like a decent enough goal....

It look as though your plant is now throwing one branch per node, unlike it's younger days when it threw branches in pairs. It's when pairs of branches come off you want to top...
