Unless you have the time and patience to pick the male flowers off as they appear, then yes, It is a death sentence. First signs of male activity in my grow and they're ripped right on out.... But to each their own....

Why not use them all, and just increase wattage as your plants increase in size? 2 x 250w is okay.... 1000w is optimum imo... (:
