Have any of you DIY COB Growers finished a crop under 1000W DE HPS? - POLL

again i dont see why people underestimate electricity bills as a cost. not only does HPS pull more itself, but the AC you have to run to cool them uses just as much as the light. It all depends on where you live, if you live somewhere with high electricity rates + hot weather (like myself) COB...

DIY COB: what do you use to build your frames?

What do you DIY COBers guys use to mount cpu heat sinks to a frame? a wooden frame? metal frame? is using a metal frame sketch due to the chance to short a circuit? im looking to build a setup to cover a 2x3 area and i know what to buy chip, driver, and cooling wise, im just not sure how to...

First LED Grow With AK-48 & Master Kush

Nice setup man, im not sure how many plants you plan on growing, but for that area you def want more than just that single 300, i had a mars 600 for two plants in a 2x2 scrog and i regret not having more light, but if youre good with just one, i would suggest lowering it to about 12-18" from the...

    Flowering xj13 and cherynobl

i see, you can try putting mylar or some reflective material along the walls to help get as much of that light as you can to the plants, i used aluminum foil my first time lol

    Flowering xj13 and cherynobl

Looks like a lot of stretching to me, could either be just because its under CFLs, and theyre relativley weak. But i think you should lower your light, CFLs can get pretty damn close to your plants, but make sure the footprint of the light still covers most of the plant. consider getting more...

    Day 45 flower problems?

Looks like either underwatering or heat stress to me based on what ive experienced. 3 cups is pretty low, i feed my plants 3 liters in 5gal pots. when i had 3gal pots i did 1.5-2.5 liters per feeding. try getting a cheap moisture meter to help you out until you learn to read your plants. amazon...

Need advice on pre-built COB panel purchase please!

How much did you yield with that 450w fixture if you dont mind me asking? and is that 450w HPS equivalent or power draw? how long were your veg time/flower time? Sorry for all the questions, is just a large purchase i want to be sure of.

Need advice on pre-built COB panel purchase please!

Hello all, still getting used to the whole Cree COB lights and how it all works but im starting to get the ball rolling, for personal and financial reasons DIY is most likely out of my options (for now).I have come down to two choices. The grow area: 4x4 scrog with 6-8 plants. Number one...

Have any of you DIY COB Growers finished a crop under 1000W DE HPS? - POLL

I'm not sure about "many years" it depends on where you live of course. I live on the coast in southern CA, where not only do the temps exceed 100f+ but electricity costs are through the roof. I'm paying an average of $0.28, when added to the cost of cooling the massive heat produced by a 1000w...

Wow, thank you, i was literally running out of manufactures to look up, as soon as you try to search for grow lights nothing but chinese crap spams your window!

    CXB3590 1500W

Very true, however, i meant cheaper in the context of counting time as a factor to cost. The time its going to take me to learn and draw up a schematic, then cut/measure/assemble etc is all measurable in a dollar amount (to me anyways) I work and go to school full time so i dont have days to...

    CXB3590 1500W

I see, now that puts the total for the 12 chips and 3 drivers alone @ $921. This does not include heatsinks, fans, driver for the fans, solder & gun, wiring, case/frame etc. Would it be safer and maybe even cheaper to purchae a pre-build Cree led grow light?

A different thread shot me over to this link here, im tired of not being able to trust LED manufacture's and their specs. Does this COB panel seem to appear legit? are those 9 COBs really enough to replace a 1000w HPS over a 4x4 canopy?

    CXB3590 1500W

    I'm guessing you meant 8? or 18? 8 chips and 2 drivers? would you arrange them 1 chip/ 2ft^2?

    CXB3590 1500W

is that how much it pulls from the wall or the "HPS equivalent" i'm trying to get around 1200w equivalent of HPS, i was going to buy a BlackDog LED panel, but i know how much COB technology is ahead. I need to draw up a schematic of what i would need to achieve the equivalent to a 1200w HPS...

How many watts does that pull/output? Sorry im a noob to this. Umm, not exactly sure what you're getting at, and i know this thread is for a 1500w setup, i just dont know how much it cost. Plus i need a setup just for flower i dont need a veg/flower light, and i dont know how the math works...
