Switching LED lights the first week of grow, am I safe or too late?

Yes, plants will love it. If you get a highly efficient light like optic 1 or HLG quantum board etc, keep them up high until plant gets used to them. Turn down dimmer if light has that option.

Switching LED lights the first week of grow, am I safe or too late?

Good comparison purely on efficiency optic 1 rates very well (don`t know about optic 1 xl) If he had tested HLG 288V2 it probably would be 1st

    Do i flower a male?

If you let it grow the top couple of feet will be hundreds of flowers with yellow clouds of pollen heading downwind. People growing downwind who have removed their males will not be amused. Not much point smoking it.

Extreme Flowering Under Pair of Timber 48SAMS

They look all right from where I am sitting, not a blurple in sight. Mate who is too tight fisted (poverty stricken) to splash out on QB`s reckoned he saw god when I showed him how bright they are

    Do i flower a male?

I keep male separate if possible to have some control of where the pollen goes. Mature male plants can create a large yellow cloud in a breeze which might be inconvenient. I make a catch tray out of tin foil & twice a day hold tray under flowers & tap plant. Shape tray into a vee & tap tray to...

    Growing outdoor north island nz

I used to grow outdoors (mid Sept to end of April) an hour north of Auck 20-40 yrs ago. Some got through but need to be small & cheeky. Helicopters & pot hunters from Auck were a problem. More subdivisions, lifestyle blocks & opossums not great either. Moving indoors is the way to go.

    The far red thread

If the socket craps out & a toothpick won`t fix it, there is a Molex Lite-Trap power input at other end. Supplied power supply should be good for 33 watts at 1.4A. Board can handle 2.1A = 50 watts so you do have a good excuse to spend more dosh, to crank it up. My spare HLG 40H 24A should be...

    New Zealanders help plz

Past seasons I have used potting mix from the warehouse. They have slow release ferts, so I stand pots in bath before use and pass a lot of water through in case they are old stock, then tip out into wheel barrow & add worm castings. This season will try terrazilla from hyalite + worm castings...

Yeah, interesting is the plan. Time will tell if it is cunning. If they turn skitzo can change to the 3K boards

Very possible. Purely theoretical thinking so far is to run the QB18 with the QB288V2 4000K boards. Turned off while in veg & off for the last 2 weeks of flower. My spare driver will run the QB18 from 24 to 40 watts All lights are new. Replacing 9 yr old 200w 4 cobs? that was getting rather dim...

Keen to see how you go with them. I have 2 HLG135 kits with the choice of either 3000KV2 & 4000KV2 boards for a 2x4. Will get 3 foot heatsink to replace 2 single board heatsinks and mount 1 QB18 along side. A few months before they will be used. Too cold down here.

Am thinking of getting QB18. Have suitable spare driver. Caught up with info from other fella in other thread.
