    Terpenes enhancement and manipulation

Adulteration and manipulation isn't the same thing. He's not willing to post a procedure to replicate the terpene enhancement. Its bad science, period. If I think its wrong, I'll call bullshit on it.

    Soil

Is it dirt or is it "soil"?. What kind of soil do you have outside?... Sandy?. Clay? Sandy Loam?. Is there enough organic matter in it?.. Most likely a bag of soil will perform better than what you have outside. Promix, Blackgold, etc.. Unless you're going to grow outside.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Yup, some people have compost tumblers.. no worms will get into that until you put them there.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

I kinda like the concentrated nature of EWC, I can add a little bit to a high quality soil, and it makes alot of difference. Respect still given to your thoughts on compost.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Agree with you there, the cold piles, especially here take a LONG time to decomp. And I only use it in veggie gardens.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Same thing I've been saying, worms are going to stay out of the heat until things are better for them. If worms can yield a better product in the same amount of time, might as well go with a vermicompost. I have nothing against compost, but I'm leaning towards vermicompost if I'm going to...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

No those temps are too low to be considered for a typical hot compost pile. Internal temp needs to be around 140 plus, that would kill the worms. Vermicompost can be run without having the ideal C:N ratio. So its more flexible, but has to be run at a lower temp. I dont believe actinomyces...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Good point... my buddy at work was getting expired food for his hogs from the food bank food "not for human consumption". But to be honest, he had a truckload of expired ice cream, ben and jerrys, and I ate a few pints, no problem. But he was also getting produce that was ok, and that would...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Good stuff, Im going to look into getting expired produce to do the same thing. I'm gonna have to take a closer look at the vermi vs compost with a microscope. See how different the microlife is.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

He did say "regular" compost, when comparing vermicompost.. I said "hot" compost. That detail I do remember. He did mention a few other things, but there was emphasis on the action of the worms.. I'm sorry I didn't record the brief conversation.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

I mean a finished hot compost pile that has reached the 140F+ internal temp, and has returned to normal. For clarity: When I say "hot", I dont mean it in the terms of nutrients, I mean it as a pile that has reached those temps and returned to normal.

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Keep in mind it wasn't an exact quote.. The point is that its more available, it could be that a quality potting mix with 10% added vermicompost makes it easier to unlock the potassium in the soil vs 10% hot compost. I dont think its as simple as quantity of potassium, its more of an...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

There is a very specific C:N ratio for hot compost. People are making a odd scenario where vermicompost is fed with only one material, wormbin with only cardboard?. Or my favorite.. "wood compost chip pile".. Thats not hot compost. I wouldn't use wood based compost either, that will...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

You're right, I didn't include this part of the conversation. No mention of side by side trials. We have to remember that Jeff is not a scientist, he is a respected gardener with over 40 years of column advice. He has proven time and time again to dispense sound advice, even if its based off...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

I had to say "hot composting" to distinguish between the two methods because there is a "cool" method. I understand that you should not use compost until the pile has returned to normal temps. No mention of exact nutrient value but he says vermicompost is more "available" vs hot composting...

    Vermicompost vs. Hot Compost

Its not often you ask guru's like Jeff Lowenfell's questions.. If you dont know the guy, you should. He's written books like "Teaming with Microbes". I met the guy in person after his presentation and I had to ask him something. Q: Whats better? vermicompost or hot compost? (not exactly...

Girl scout cookie forum cut issue

I've been working with GSC for a couple of years, and they tend to be a hungrier plant than others. And I've corrected the rusty leaf problem without MG. What did work for me was a little extra feed of either a peters 20-20-20 or Maxicrop 0-0-1 but without knowing the specifics of your soil...

FLUSHING before harvest... BS or not?

Some of the mofo's just need to take a gardening/botany/horticulture course, and questions like "flushing" will disappear. Unfortunately flushing misconceptions are still pushed by so called experts.
