you can use the trash bag method but people say that unless you block all light, you could hermie the plant.

considering that it's from seed, i expect it to be strong.... i topped it while i did my LST and i think i slowed the growth a bit. the lower nodes began to show faster growth after i removed one of the fan leaves to let more light into the canopy
