i would like to start my plants out in large pots but people say not to but never say why. Why is it bad to start your plants off in larger pots rather than a cup or gallon sized pot?

DAY 3. nothing yet. although yesturday a small single root poked out of the soil. i added a little dirt to it and a tiny bit of water. the had actually turned into a hook shape (pointing at the ground) within the hour b/f i added more dirt. AS SOON AS I SEE GROWTH I WILL BE UPDATING DAILY.
