You want to dunk it because it rehydrates the substrate. And rolling it after the dunk gives it an xtra layer for moisture retention. Also. doing a dunk and roll between flushes will give you a better yield of shrooms. I use room temp water to dunk the cakes in, not cold. Not sure that matters much.

If you keep taking healthy clones from a healthy mom, you keep the plant indefinitely. If you start having problems cloning you can tissue culture it. But I've yet to have to tissue culture any of my stock and I have some mother plants that date back to 1999-2001.
