I would say i grow for the same reason most folks do. To empower myself by supplying myself. Especially now, just moved to a new state, dont know many people yet. Actually not even smoking now but I can grow a couple autos outdoors and have my own stash without having to ask around or pay...

Sowing in medium works fine but i never do it. I have almost 100% germ rate by putting seeds right into wet paper towel and that into plastic sandwich bag. Sandwich baggie in small, dark container and place on cable box. Put seed taproot down in soil so top of seed is just visible or just below...

Just my 2 cents. I use miracle grow perlite and peat, at 50/50 with 1 tsp of dolimite lime per gal of soil mix. I dont worry about miracle grow telling me on packages that plant food is added, its basically non- existent. I have started seeds in this stuff. Plant food is jacks classic 20/20/20...
