After doing research, I am not doing a four-bath wash for all plants, regardless of whether botrytis (bud rot) or PM ( powdery mildew) is present. All are 5-gallon food-grade buckets:
Bath #1: 5T potassium bicarbonate (swishing + 3 minute submersion)
Bath #2: 1 cup sodium bicarbonate + 1 cup...
A diluted foliar spray of potassium bicarb shouldn't pose a health risk. It is water soluble and is used in the manufacture of many food products. You are not using a fire extinguisher to rid the PM. So if you are going to spray in flower then a good bud wash in 5-gallon buckets should remove...
A way to test. Place the clipped buds in a canning jar with a moisture source, such as a piece of citrus peel. If you've got fungus, it will take over in a week. If not, your grow is safe for now. Dry the bud(s) and enjoy.
Outdoor greenhouse grow. I got hit with a light case of botrytis and have managed to catch and kill the offending buds at the onset, sterilizing hands and clippers after each excision. Under my hand microscope (i.e. not visible to the naked eye), I can see in a few areas with clear spider...
FWIW, I tested two water samples for Pb contamination. Sample #1 contained the two 1 ounce Pb sinkers, placed in a quart of RO water for three days. Sample #2 was compost tea brewed with the sinkers for 3 days. Sample #1 tested a Pb level higher than the EPA standard for drinking water. Sample...
They were two 1-ounce weights, ~40 days of tea making, so not huge amount of lead but since I was attempting to do a near 100% organic grow this season, I couldn't offer any of this friends without hesitation regardless of the test results. Can't be 100% sure. Since lead fishing weights are...
Wondering if I need to dump the fabric pots as well?
So just ordered simple lead test kits that will determine any level; for exact level have to send to a lab. Will test tea and separate test of RO water + the two lead weights. Probably going to scrub the grow regardless of the test results. Sigh.
For a little over a month, small lead fishing weights were used to hold down 2 air stones in 5 gallon bucket brews of compost tea. Yah, realize now not smart. Since cannabis is a heavy metal accumulator, does anyone know if enough lead would have leached from the weights to warrant scrubbing the...
