Have you used the dunks before? It seems to me the best way would be to crush it up, mix it with water and then apply that to the plants because you would get a good penetration all through the root zone. The question is how much to use - can you overdo it?

This is the larvae i am finding in my runoff water. These are extremely small. When you look at them in the pool of runoff water, they just look like tiny specks of material. Its only when you look closely that you see they are actually moving.

If i apply sand on top of my soil, then every time i water the sand will slowly get all in through the soil and i'll have to keep topping it up resulting in more and more soil getting into the soil. Surely this is not ideal? You think the picture of the insect i posted looks like an aphid?

But the buttom will dry out if im going to let the pots dry up a bit right?

My drainage definitely isn't a problem, but i generally avoid letting them get too dry at this stage in the grow. I'll have the make an exception this time. Have you used these before with soil? Do they have no affect on the plants?

They are tiny, i mean look at them compared to the trichomes. Have you used sand before? I've never really had problems with bugs before. From what i gather you're right i need to let the soil dry out.

Can you be more specific? What type of gnat?

Looks like a sandfly, they don't seem to harm the leaves or buds but i notice their larvae (little white worm like things) in my root zone and i'm not sure how much of an issue this is. Plants are 7 weeks into flower, and look like they have another week or two to go.

I never said your quality would be shit, i said you wouldn't be getting the maximum value out of your plants there is a big distinction. You can grow top quality buds and still lose out big time on yield due depending on how you grow.
