hey i was just wondering if there was any way to tell if my plant will be good bud? i am not sure what kind of seed i used, got it from a freind.

I have been reading things about growing in coconut husk or cocunut chips, and everything ive read makes it out to be a phenomenal way to grow. I was considering trying it, and would like some info and advice plz.
