ya man good movie, i have seen a pic of a pot tree prolly over 20ft tall. i guess the way they do it is veg inside the house for close to a year, and then plant outside and let veg another 5 months.

i do not know much about aoutside growing or soil, but ive seen people start there seedlings in styrafoam jiffy cups, and they let the plants get about 7-9in before transplanting into a pot/1gal bucket. once they do that they will grow into that pot/1gal bucket until a few weeks before flower...
