best thing about cali is they grow natural.. find a cow feild and make an Lc from a fresh mushroom. I've done this before to avoid odering more spores while adding a new variety. of course you could just get spores from those shrooms but outdoor shroom more likely to have contams i've seen...

make sure you pasturize the coir.. pasturization seems to work best. the reason i feel coir is more susceptible to contams than poo is colonizing the coir has always taken me longer than the poo, giving more time for contams to take place and take over.. if your fully steril you shouldn't have...

check ebay and craigs list, its cheap and they can ship it from any where, its commonly used for all types of things from mushrooms to gardening so its pretty easy to get. also it shouldn't smell at all if its old enough to use.

i'd use poo as first choice, coir is very finicky lots of chance for contams, i've used it before.. but poo is very cheap easily found and soo much better. but if you have to use coir, just substitute coir for poo, and follow poo tek exactly... i think some people add crushed oyster and stuff to...

I wouldn't dunk the substrate bags unless its pf tek you run the risk of it breaking apart in the dunk... sometimes i dunk my trays carefully but a bag has no suport.. what kind of substrate are you using? best to just mix the substrate with Hpoo or some other bulk sub after full colonization.

I'd have to say my favorite two strains are pf classic, and golden teacher, third would be pes hawaii. I've only had my hands on 7 strains though.. and my columbians syringe was contamed so really 6, B+ has always intrigued me. as well have albino strains, i really want to get my hands on a red...

Fan method take 24 hours about. no matter the method, be sure they are cracker dry before storing, I like to put mine in a jar and come back and check them a few hours later, just to make sure. I know some one who dries them out by laying them ontop of a warm tv.

Box fan works great, I've never needed anything more than that, can dry a few ounces at once. just point fan at mushies, i set mine in a strainer (so they dont fly around when dry) and set the fan on top of it facing down at them.

Light is only one part of a triggering process, (and i dont think its all that important in triggering, more important on size of and abundance of pins after pinning has started) if your jars get ALOT of gas exchange and enough light, and your sub starts to dry out a little or possible temp...

If you post some pics I could probably tell you right away. Orange does not sound good. if it is just some slightly orangish/yellowish myc piss, it MIGHT be ok, but that stuff can lead to contams eventually also.... if it was full on orange Its probably contam, i've had some nasty nasty...
