I have a 400 watt hps bulb and i was wondering if it would be fine to use it in a normal socket like in a lamp or if i have to go all out and get a ballast for it. I'm trying to make this grow really inexpensive.

place the germinated seeds about two centimeters down in the soil with the sprout on the bottom. keep the surface of the soil moist and give them constant light while in this stage. i would prolly still plant the one that broke its seed. seeds aint cheap.
