    Water cooling leds

I get condensation on uninsulated lines with 56F water flowing in a room with 75F ambient air temps, and that’s outside of my grow. If it was inside my warm humid grow room it would condensate like a fire sprinkler. I’m not sayin that you would water cool your lights with that cool of a water...

    Water cooling leds

It’s a cool idea, but I would be worried about condensation accumulating on your cooling pipes/heat sinks in your grow room. I’m guessing you would exchange the heat outside of the grow area, but the heat sinking taking place inside the grow would likely get drippy with condensation, without...

    Fluence Spydr 2i

I ramp them up to full power gradually during veg so they are at full power day 1 of flower. And my environment setup is pretty dialed. My tent is only 6’ tall so I keep the lights at full height and let the plants grow up towards them.

I run 2 of them in a 4’x 8’ tent. They put in work!

DIY Primitive sunrise/sunset 3 channel spectrum tunable light

Thank you very much! I did check out that link to the previous testing that I believe LED Teknik put out some years back. The older data sheets even had the spd for the regular vestas if I remember correctly. That along with the CCT vs Current chart were what helped me guestimate the color temp...

DIY Primitive sunrise/sunset 3 channel spectrum tunable light

Hey Growers and light enthusiasts, I just wanted to share a little DIY project I’m currently working on for a small veg/mother space. I’ve always been curious if plants would respond differently to changing spectrums and intensity throughout the day, and I’ve built a fixture to try to find out...

Atreum Lights - Meanwell Drivers; how long do they last?

I’ve had a few meanwell drivers quit on me within 3-5 years. HLG-120H-C1400B & HLG-320H-C1050B. About a 20% failure rate with those drivers in that timespan from my personal experience with them.

What led strips to consider in 2024?

Damn, I ordered Gen 2 strips about 4 weeks ago because Gen 3s were only available in bulk with a 6 week lead time. I got them from digikey too

What led strips to consider in 2024?

I haven’t seen Gen 3 strips available other than from unauthorized brokers/distributors, which I’m not willing to gamble on.

What would you pick led or hps?

I think the main point is that ambient temperature affects the surface temperature of objects as well as any directed heat/light source. A cat may enjoy the warmth of the HID bulb, up to a certain point. Above that point, the cat may become uncomfortable and move. This is somewhat analogous to...

What would you pick led or hps?

I just wanted to respond to this statement. When you say LED, are you talking about the individual chips, or the fixture as a whole? Diodes have limitations just like any other light source, but what “best” LEDs are you referring to? Most grow lights on the market are using similar...

What would you pick led or hps?

Sorry, I was referencing the nanometer coverage more than the color temp. Spectral distribution is obviously somewhat different between the two light sources with CMH having a higher proportion of red in the spectrum. Hortilux 1000W Blue Phillips Agro 315W 4200K

What would you pick led or hps?

I’ve actually never been that impressed with HPS grown flower. It can yield really well and grow larger nugs, but I was growing the same strains for a few years before I made the switch to 3000k CREE CXA COBs, and my buds were more dense, trichome laden, and had much better aroma under the LEDs...

What would you pick led or hps?

Honestly, the healthiest growth and happiest looking plants I’ve ever had indoors were under Hortilux Blue 1000W. They didn’t have as much output as HPS, but the plants always responded better to the Blue spectrum. It just would have needed to have like 25-30% more output and would have been the...

    Is this light bleaching?

You’re very welcome grower. I’ve also caused photoinhibition a number of times, and had to do a whole lot of reading and sort my problems out the hard way. I just try to remember that everything about growing is super dynamic and interconnected, especially when trying to diagnose issues or come...

What would you pick led or hps?

I believe that it’s the phosphorus coating on the inside of the glass that actually scatters the photons after it absorbs and re-emits them. Glass typically will reflect/refract light, but the photons don’t lose energy like they do after transmitting through a particle like phosphorus. That and...
