7 plants under 400W ASTIR LEDs in Hydro-Aero System

might want to stick some 30 degree optics on those so you really concentrate the light on them or bundle up the plants and bundle up all the lights on top so you make use of all available lights

LED manufacture Cree is probably the best still, and US based manufacturing. OSRAM, Philips Luminleds, Bridgelux. All very good.. Cree has single chips up to 68 watts with 100+ lumens per watt, although only in white. As ive been reading there are some higher benefits to using white leds as...

Thanks, a lot of info you dropped. I did learn some cool things. I have no knowledge of older manufacturing processes. That's why Im trying to open this discussion to gain something. Though the process you stated is now acceptable to me and looks to be a slightly less crappy product. For our...

this seems to be a well made light. lower 4 LEDs are osram golden dragon (pic 3) upper red LEDs, sorry i cannot see clearly enough to tell .. good forward mount LED on "metal core PCB" .. good "metal core PCB" mounted onto a large heatsink ... good only a single 4 watt fan pushing air in...

same as above metal core PCB is forward mount which is the preferred method. (pic 3) LEDs are generic chinese 1w or 3w. (pic 3) resistors are used for over current protection. (pic 3) optics seems to be plano convex, hard to tell by the picture, but they are to focus the light. (pic 5)

classic Chinese LED down lights (like your 6" recessed cans in your kitchen), although they stuck 6 of em into an enclosure. one i have is 11 watts warm white and does not require a fan (gets little hot to the touch). AC/DC driver - bad - seems to be generic, improper insulation for 120v...

thanks good reply. please continue to discuss as i may be wrong, Yes, reverse mounting is functional but efficiency wise it is not acceptable. reverse mounting increases production cost in respect to time (maybe not so much in china). Holes for the LED need to be cut via machine, forward...

Starting with LED's - are ebay ones ok?

ebay ones are fine as long as they are not generic chinese ones. when looking for ones on ebay look for manufactures like cree, osram, philips, etc.. make sure they give the specific bin number (like a serial number), google it and it will tell you the (nm) nanometer spectrum of light it...

    600w led

there is no cree 3w leds available in blue and red. typical blue and red voltage is 2.4 volt and at 1 amp maximum power that equals 2.4 watts per LED. Times 200 that is 480 watts total. plus a good quality driver at 90% efficiency your looking at 528 watts total system so yes it is bull shit...

Hello all, Little about me, I'm an Electrical Engineering senior in college. I have an extensive background in LED lighting and applications. As I own A LOT of LED components (Cree, OSRAM, Bridgelux, Luminleds, cheap china stuff). I am looking how manufactures are making lights. First is...

Blackstar 240W LED Dissected and Upgraded!

sorry to resurrect, Reason for high costs is because LEDs are expensive. These units use approx 70 LEDs, average Cree LED is around $2 wholesale depending on how many you purchase. Is it possible TS to post pictures of the internals of the Blackstars? As well as close up pictures of the...
