I'll offer some help. What you want to do for a low wattage HPS grow, is buy a "security light" from lowes etc.. they run about 40 bucks, go ahead and return the bulb you bought and buy a security light. You can extend the wires running to the socket, and wire a cord onto the "input" end...

a fan speed controller is better. I've used an $11 one off the shelf from Lowes, combined with a small wall-mount switch box, ($total 16 ish when combined with extension cord,) that is actually designed to control fan speed, and doesn't buzz.

Thick expanding foam weatherstrip is what you need. it's got an adhesive on one side, all you do is make it "meet" the closet door, where it closes, so when closed, it fills the gap..

mist them with some water, pop the dome back on, and they should spring back to life in less than 24 hours. when I pot a rooted clone, and accidentally break all the roots off, the same thing happens, i put it back in the cloner, and it comes back within hours. don't stress too much.
