As far as i am aware any fixture/ballast will be ok so long as it is good for 54 watts and over. Also check the contact pins will fit the fixture u choose. The ignition gear for flouresent lighting is the same ballest etc so its bollocks that u need to use their gear....just a money spinner m8...

If its building sand the chances are that there will be a high lime content. If its horticultural sand it will be corse enough for the drainage and will keep em goin but not for to long
