There are dual spectrum CFL's (blue + red), I have had just 1 of these for over a year and i have had no problems with it, They ARE really cheap to run, I have 150w dual spectrum CFL, Was £20 with the lead and all, Saving you £60 if you dont buy a hps or mh,

I would recommend using a CFL (compact fluorescent light), There are two types of spectrum available to buy, Blue spectrum is for vegging Phase Red spectrum for flowering Phase They are alot cheaper to buy than a HPS or MH bulbs, you don't need a ballast to run them either, Hope this helps
