So its settled. I'll be going with the 3000K Vero and supplementing with strings of Violet, Royal Blue, and Deep Red. I don't think there is any practical need to supplement Blue ...unless someone disagrees... I'll also try to work within the confines of KNNA's 15-20% rule. Here's the...

yes this LED is running very hard at 700mA current. I would expect a shortened lifespan, especially if my junction temps were over 50 deg C. but can't one drop the current in half by running them in series parallel?

And also XP-E blue... another low-efficiency light that people often incorporate into their builds. I'd like to see the REAL number of photons being emitted off of this and the 680nm ES... and I'd like to see numbers on the SemiLED just because I plan to test it's frosting capabilities

So many choices, please help me decide.

If you decide to incorporate any Cree lights into your Vero build then I want to give my recommendation to ReefLEDlights.com... his B, RB, and R are binned for our exact needs and he has great prices on the two most reliable drivers- meanwell and inventronics (AKA hyperon).

Ill take you up on that. We've seen plenty of stuff on Cree and Bridgelux... everything between 450 and 630nm... how about the photon flux of commonly-used emitters outside of that range? Rebel ES 670nm Deep Red, and MS SemiLED 410nm (Indigo/Violet)?

not necessarily true. Good LED builds seem to operate at double the efficiency of HID... AS WELL AS 5-10% efficiency gains in power supplies alone.

And now for part II of this thought. did that first attachment show? here it is again One really big question I have is how versatile is Chloraphyll? What kind of strain does it place on Chloraphyll A when you increase the disparity between emission of 680nm radiation and the 450nm...

whoa whoa whoa. I realized that I was getting ahead of myself on this photosynthesis thing. No use trying to re-invent the wheel. Musta been all the coffee. Instead, I found a chart with a photosynthetic action spectrum. It is a sum of all parts of the light absorbing plant tissues. I would...

So this is insanely awesome. I'm sold on the Vero! But can we get one last little graph on the Vero COB: the spectral photon flux per 1w?

^^^Bill's findings are accredited with his degree in marine biology. As he was joking to me the other day, this stuff is above his "paygrade" lol. Nothing can quite compare to synergetic critical thinking.

D36! I didn't know what I was talking about! I had to look on the back of one of my chips! And I get my Crees from reefLEDlights. Bill only buys a few bins [the exact bins we talk about as being the best, except perhaps the WW Q4, which is still one of the best bins, just perhaps not the best...

This is just mindblowing! Look at those little curves of the whites! Everything is coming into perspective. So now the fun part... we know what chips are the most efficient, as well as the measure of photons they emit. now how do we capture a double-dose of efficiency by building a light with a...

from what I understand, we also have a conversion challenge with colored emitters vs white (mW and la)

Then my guess is that they could be 3w chips Vf= 3.4 volts driven a @350mA. A total of 238watts... the fan and driver bring the efficiency of the AC->DC conversion down to 78%... and the final big unknown is the efficiency and luminous flux (in mW or la) of those 200 emitters.

Ok very good to know.Would you say that WW has more royal blue/PAR than we realize? This shows us that the blue spectrum on the XT-E whites is perfect growth color. Results from my aquarium above prove so. http://prntscr.com/25u8w5 I am wondering if there is a lot of royal blue because of how...
