Big ass spider in my tent

I encourage spiders in my garden. Truthfully, I can't really keep them out, as I grow in a greenhouse which has a certain degree of porosity for insects. This is actually good, as it keeps a living balance of predator and prey, and prevents any infestation, which is just a dinner bell for the...

    Why dispensary weed SUCKS!

I work in the industry in CO, and I've been in hundreds of grows; almost no one out here is growing hydro at the professional level. And I've seen amazing private hydro gardens that didn't suffer from many of the complaints you list. The reason dispensary weed sucks is because it's grown for...

Has anybody washed there buds and not liked?

I rinse off my outdoor buds at harvest-- plain tap water in a 5 gal bucket does the job. We have local cottonwood trees, and the cotton fluff they drop gets on everything, even with filters in my greenhouse vents they sneak in when I open the doors. You can see the dust and fluff that comes off...

What are you growing outside right now?

It's actually easier than cannabis, which I regularly lose track of. The tomatoes have pretty distinct shapes and sizes, and the fruits are also distinctive. I learned the hard way last year that if I don't label everything I will have no idea what's going on...

    Are LED's That Good?

Well I might be overstating that case a bit, and I'm just poking about in a tiny slice of this multi-state billion dollar market, but it's easy to get that impression from my own first hand. What I'd really like to see are growers with commercial funding doing pure research on these subjects...

    Are LED's That Good?

I honestly don't know, but I suspect it's the same reason Hollywood turns out shite movies-- sheer inertia tied to the amount of cash invested. When you sit down and design a grow facility, you need to guarantee you are giving someone a proven formula that can make money-- that's what they are...

    Are LED's That Good?

Yeah, I don't think anyone's saying LED doesn't have it's applications, but the big grow ops aren't using them, and they've shown ready willingness to adopt anything that will save them a buck. The fact that LEDs have had years to proliferate, yet are not in widespread commercial use for...

    Are LED's That Good?

You might think that new grow warehouses would be planning to install LED light, but they are not. I design systems for all the newly legal state expansions, for serveral different consulting compaines. In the last month, I've done at least two dozen designs-- most all of them greenhouses, and...

Picking a place to grow legal

The cannabis police are standard-- in CO they are called the MED. They are actually a good thing when well trained, but they can also be pointed in a direction by someone like a politician-- not unlike a weapon. I work in industry design across multiple states, and deal with regs on a state by...

Best you have ever smoked and how many hits to get high?

Best I've ever had was the Matanuska Thunderfuck, circa 1990.. A school buddy from Fairbanks would have a qp sent to him every semester. For four years, it was exactly the same every time-- light velvet purple buds of medium size, untrimmed so the bud was surrounded in a cocoon of super frosty...

    Are LED's That Good?

Some of the most successful professional growers I know grow close to 12' plants in indoor greenhouses. I work in the CO industry, and visit at least a half dozen grows and dispensaries every week. I have seen one facility using LED so far on a test basis, and it's a grower who is known...

Picking a place to grow legal

I've used CBD heavy strains for back pains before (dabbing), and found them effective sometimes and with some pains. Sadly for me, the only cure is to strenghten my core, which means strenuous exercise, god help me.

    Soil compaction please help!!!

If it gets really compacted, you can aerate the soil with a wire-- jab the wire into the soil over and over, mostly in the outer ring of pot where there are not so many roots. This is not a fix, but will improve drainage and soil breathing-- do it a bit over several days.

    Running a light.....in a greenhouse??

Every greenhouse I've personally worked on that was designed for cannabis (more than half a dozen big ones), had supplemental lighting. I don't design the light systems, but they are always there. I've done designs for dozens more greenhouses on paper, and the electrical layouts always show...

Wtf is this Myclobutanil increased yeild!?!?

No offense taken, and you should be commended for asking for advice. You've hit some buttons here because we are really sensitive and passionate, as you say-- and use of certain chemicals for pot growing can provoke intense reactions in people (in both senses). If you're serious, order another...

    Compost tea help

Your questions indicated you need to read up on basic concepts-- how soil works, what compost tea does, and how a microherd will benefit your soil. It's better to understand these concepts as much as you can, rather than just blindly follow a list of directions or a formula. The difference comes...
