#1 dumbest newbie mistake of the year.

Ok... I planted 3 white widows all at the same time. One came up today and she's pretty big for a baby girl. Like one of those fat babies just born, but a big sucker. It's been 12 hours since I saw dirt rising where she was sprouting and now she's fully popped up, no dirt around her. (yes yes, :D I'm referring to it as a female already) So I look at my other little pot and I'm like "hey cmon why aren't you growing?"
So I rub a small film of dirt off to see if there's anything there. I repeat this process until I'm about a half inch deep and I see the seed finally. I notice it's growing a stem downwards and I'm like "OH NO MY POT PLANT IS HIGH! D: WRONG WAYYY!!!" so I get the brilliant idea of digging her out very gently, cutting the pot and gently letting the dirt out... turns out it was growing the right way, the seed just stays at the top until it germinates, x.x it had a long inch and a half or so healthy root with the seed kind of curved looking like she wanted to go up.
At this point I'm like *facepalm* I fill it back up and place her back in the hole slowly, attempting to keep the entire plant in the same position it was in under the dirt before I touched it. I covered her with about 1/4" - 1/2" of dirt.

I only glanced for a second but she looked healthy and whitish/green. Did I kill her? :(

no, more then likely it will be fine, just in the future have some patience and stop digging around in your pots looking for stuff before they have a chance to grow some.. :D

I would say it's the dumbest. I'm on my first grow and I did something not too far off. I planted mine way too low in the soil. Then after about a week with nothing coming up through I went to throw away the dirt. When I did, it broke open and I saw that there actually were tiny plants, but couldn't get to the top. I replanted and they've been doing well since. lol.

don't worry m8, we've all done some stupid things first time out of the gate..

my first grow i got the beans mixed up and i thought i was growing a completely different strain then what it really was..

not until it started to stink of the place like skunk did i realize it was the super skunk bean i was growing and not the mk ultra i had originally thought that it was..

Thank you guys :) I feel better. I'm sure it'll be okay.
One thing that concerned me though is root rot. It seemed moist from top to bottom, I'm using fox farm ocean forest. The stuff never dries up!

Well you're just starting out so here you go....The hardest part of growing is the first two weeks and the last two weeks, and of course the waiting for stuff to happen in between those 4 weeks, but other than that it's a breeze......

lol. So the first 2 weeks are tough, then the last 2 and everything in between? lol. I'm at week 5 of veg so at least I'm past the initial hard part then. I'll be glad when I'm chopping and get to spark some up. lol.

I know it sounds a little vague but in the first two weeks you're trying to get the beans to pop and once the do, trying to get your room dialed. The middle part is when you overwater, overfeed and overthink everything. The last two weeks are spent figuring out what nutrient deficiency you have and where are all these bugs coming from(gnats, mites...).

Ok, Krabby, with that said, what should I be doing now to keep from having bugs later? Is there anything, or just hope and pray? lol.

I've had similar experience, had 6 seeds waiting to pop, after 6 days one finally did, gave up on the rest and decided to let them dry, dig out the seeds and soak them for the next try. My wife took them outside, watered them and next day an other poped, gave up on the rest and my wife did the same thing, sure enough an other popped up....Oh Well, live and learn.

idk m8, i've been growing for about 5 years or so now and knock on wood, i've never had any form of bugs.. nada damn one, well, maybe a gnat here or there, but those don't really count in my book as they don't damage the plants and are nothing compared to some of the stuff out there like spider mites and a few others..
i think if you start from seeds, and don't bring in any clones from outside sources you really shouldn't have to worry too much about bugs.. at least that's been my experience..

Growing is easy if you have the right materials and know what your doing. I started with bag seeds in a Rubbermaid toat with a regular light bulb lol and fixed that mistake after doing a little research and gathering some money and this website helps a lot too cuz 90% of people on here can always help and give good advice.

My post was somewhat tongue in cheek and for the most part growing is easy as I mentioned, it's usually impatience that ends up taking its toll, As far as bugs go Racerboy is right, they are usually introduced to your grow from clones, medium and of course hitchhiking on you if you visit other grows, I guess the trick is keeping an eye out for them and treating at an early stage, and those little fungus gnats flying around don't really do any damage in the adult form although the larvae chomping on your roots may....

It'll be fine. I've had to perform a dozen emergency transplants after knocking a tray of seedlings off the table onto the ground and having everything explode, not just once...but like 3x so far.

Sounds good man. We'll definitely do that. I'll be curious to see what mine come up with. Not sure about the seeds. Some were mids though, so the chances are ok that I will get something decent. Plus I'm pretty sure that if it's dried and cured right even the bag seed will turn out decent. We'll definitely do that though VT. I'll also need some help when I start to clone a few. I definitely want to do it, even if it's just to learn. That seems like a smart way to go once I find the strains I like though. My first go I decided I"m going to try Lemon Skunk and Himalayan Gold. They look delicious.
