Hello:

I have been following the lift the pot method for watering/feeding. This has been working out to once a week in my grow enviorment and my plants look lovely. I was wondering if perhaps a lighter watering twice a week would be better for them...still letting them dry till the plant is light but watering less when I water. I have been watering the plants till about 1 cups come out the bottem of the pot after I stop watering. I am guessing that the entire soil has been quenched at this point.

Also how often should I flush the plant? Only when there is a problem?

If the plants look lovely , why would you change what works? You don't need to shorten the watering interval until you find your plant is starting to wilt on this schedule. As the plant gets more foliage and the branches get longer you will have to shorten the interval to accommodate for the additional foliage. The weight method is a good indicator of when to water. By now you should be getting a feel for the minimum weight vs fully watered. Drying your plants down between watering helps prevent a lot of problems.

If there is no problem from excess nutrients you don't have to flush until the end of flowering. A lot of growers will flush at the end of veg when the fertilizer ratios are changed for flowering to avoid the chance of too much fertilizer salts from building up during the flowering stage..

if you are watering where there is runoff of some kind you arent fully flushing but you kind of are...and if your watering til run off you will be watering less frequently as someone who doesn't. Remember you want your plants to be thirsty and its better to under water than over water...the day i think its dry i wait another, bc i usually cant stick my finger all the way down in the pot, top might be dry but bottom might not be yet and this is where root rot occurs...

if you water with less water you might not ever get the kind of moisture you need down in the bottom where the roots are drinking most...this may slow growth as opposed to sticking to whats working for you and just giving it the full amount of water it needs, run off a little, and then wait longer by letting it drink it all and watering again once dry.

As always stick with what works...or try it on one plant and see the difference

flush 2 weeks before flowering...last two waterings are straight water and usually heavy with a lot of run off to get out chemicals or anything else in plant that you dont want to taste....only flush if there is a nute problem, other than that no flush til the end.
