I'm growing a cream caramel auto and I just took a look at it, and it looks like there is preflowers at the nodes. I'm so confused. It's only a week old give or take a day or two and is only working on growing its 3rd set of leaves. The first nodes are green little hair looking things but the second node, the hairs have a reddish tint to them. no way they could be showing sex this early. they are under 24/0 light

I guarantee you're looking at the stipules. My girlfriend looked at my plants and got all excited when she saw them, too lol.

yeah id say its the stipules your actually seeing, but I have had a few autos start flowering only 2 weeks in from sprouting, rarely happens but it can happen. I'd have to say only a week in tho I highly doubt your seeing any. Just remember your going to see WHITE hairs popping up to show female sex, you can't mistake those for anything else

Ok here it is. its the absolute best pic i could get with my phone. if its too bad of quality im not too sure i could get a better one. you can see them at the node by the cotyledon. i tried to get a pic of the ones with a purple/red tint but they were way too small and the leaves were covering them so all the pics i could get of them showed nothing. also anyone know why my cotyledon is purple? the edges of the each "spike" on my first single blade leaves are also purple. I know for a fact its not the temps. also what role do the stipules play in the plants life?

that 'purpling' is most likely a result of temperature variances, and will do no harm ... later, in flowering it can indicate a phosphorous deficiency.

if somehow it wasnt temp, could it be anything else that I should be on the lookout for?

and good to know those arent pistils, i was a little scared i dont want an auto flowering at like 3 inches tall lol
