10 AK47 & 5 SuperSilverHaze - Frist grow

Any comments or suggestions are helpful as this is the first time growing.

Starting with 10 AK47 seeds and 5 SuperSilverHaze. All germinated and have been planted. This is the 2nd day after planting and all have sprouted significantly but two. Hopefully they will pop up in the next couple of days. We used organic soil less mix, purified water, 2-40watt bulbs strictly until the flowering [edit: i mean until they are transplanted into 3 gallon jugs. NOT FLOWERING lol] then 600 watt HPS light and hood. There is also an oscillating fan as well as an exhaust fan.

Sorry for some of the pictures that show up sideways. The blue curtain is to keep the light from coming out of the room where it is located at into the adjoining room.

47% Humidity and 73 degrees.

Well your pics didn't load right or something man, but just from what you've said already I can tell you that 2-40w bulbs will not even come close to being enough light for 15 plants. You neeeeed more light once they start to get leaves.

If you have the 600w hps already, then I would suggest using that to veg them, you will get much much better results.

i'd also recommend using the HPS from start to finish.

That's what I'll be doing with my Blue Russian (they've got AK-47 somewhere in their lineage) and BubbleGum starting tonight

Will lights I have on them work until they are transplanted around 2 weeks of age? That was the original plan!? I know in my first post I said that they would be used until flowering but that's not what I quite meant!

Ok so I just came back to the thread, and the pictures where working. Looks like you've got an ok little space there. I don't imagine all 15 will end up being female so that will thin the crowd a bit. I've vegged plants with just florotubes before, my last grow I had 2 four foot shop lights. I had 9 plants to start, which ended up being 6 females. You have some great genetics here man, I really want to grow AK47, and I just got 1 sshaze seed I'm gonna be starting at the end of the month. That florotube light will not begin to let those plants do what they are capable of. If you don't have your HPS yet, I would suggest getting a bunch of CFL bulbs and making a better light set up(check the link in my sig, its to the set up of my grow, and I built a CFl light for about 15 bucks worth of parts from lowes) If you have your HPS use that. I will only be using my CFL light when I have plants in flower, other wise I will be using my 1000w hps for everything.

If you need to use them for the first 2 weeks, that should be fine. If possible I would suggest transplanting, and switching to the better light once they have 3 nodes(leaf sets) The florotubes have a tendancy to make the plants stretch. You can also set those floros almost on top of the plants. When I was using them, there would be times I would come home from work, and my plants had grown into the lights and had been touching them for who knows how long. But it didn't even bother them. I always kept mine about 1.5" away from the tops, this young they don't need to be that close, but I would say with in about 3-4".

I think until they are transplanted i will keep the tubes on them. Since it's my first grow i'm hesitant to put the 600w on there in fear of burning them.

Also since it's soil less the medium is so light and "airy" when I water them it seems to sit on top and eventually drain out of the bottom. My worry is that it's making a "path" through the medium and not fully watering the root/plant. I've tried just spraying them as well as slowly pouring water on them. I've read and heard that alot of people over water their plants and I just don't need that happening!

Just don't water till they seem dry. Pretty simple, I used to water every other day. Some guys only water like once a week, it depends on your medium, and the temps and humidity you've got.

I'm 100% sure there was not an extra seed put in this cup however I have two coming up. I've read online that sometimes the root will branch off or something and you'll see another plant start to sprout. The responses I saw were to:
1.) Bury it
2.) Let it be
3.) Snip it because it will fight for root/s?!
4.) Let it be until one becomes the weaker then snip it.

I would be inclined to say leave it alone unless you notice one or the other not growing well. You might get luck, and they will both grow up together perfectly. If you notice one is not growing well, snip it!

yeah i agree leave it be until u see a problem u cud be lucky and get 2 great plants from one seed, what strain is it?

I just checked on it and they both seem to be sprouting pretty fast. It is the Super Silver Haze.

It's been one week exactly since they've been put in the soil less mix. One died off pretty quickly for some reason but all others are sprouting very quickly. There are about 3 plants that are getting very tall and the stock doesn't seem to be supporting the top of the plant. It's wanting to rest on the side of the cup. Anything i can do to support/stop this from happening?

I started thinking. Maybe it's where it's at positioned under the light. I turned a couple of the cups to see if that's the case.

How close is the light? How wet are you keeping the soil less mix? I would think you would want the have those floro tubes pretty much as close as possible. If they make it through this next week ok, I might suggest getting a silica additive for the nutrients. The silica helps to build the cellular structure of the plants. I would also put a small fan in there if you don't have one. Get some moving air on them to help them get stronger. Hope you get it figured out! I'll be watch'in

Ok.. So my plants are about 20 days into growing. The bottom leaves on some plants are turning yellow and some tips are starting to turn up. I switched my hps light for 2 400w Metal Halide lights. I am putting them on the plants today however I am concerned about the discoloration.
Is the yellowness coming from a Ph inbalance?
