100+ heat !!!

well its been over 100 for at least a couple weeks and will continue for the forseable future and its really started taking its toll on my plants ive kept them watered but in pots i cant water enough you kno...

so the lower leaves are yellowing and alot of the leaves have brown spots im thinking its heat stress what do yall think?

I think I see signs of mites on your 1st pic? Check undersides of leaves for these teeny pests.
As for the heat/water thing, I'd add some soil to your pots (they look like there's room?) and water thoroughly when you do water. Stick something down in your soil and break up the channels that may be draining your water before it saturates your soil evenly. (like a skewer, thin screwdriver, etc)

yeah ive been lucky so far no pests i live on a lake where the mosquitos are bad so they eat alot of the pests those spots are actually tiny spots where yellowing is starting and i poke the soil all the time with a skewer to make it drain and to areate the soil... i do need to add more soil i was out when i transplanted into these pots lol do yall think i should start spraying the leaves with water and only water the soil when it really needs it?

i only water when it doesn't feel moist inside the soil i poke my finger in there to check but i was meaning spray them so the tops wont dry out as much would it work better or no?

well i moved them into the shade and spritzed them with some water on the leaves to cool them down and they perked up so i guess ill jus move them to the shade at 11 or 12 every day till there done, should i trim the leaves that got damaged in a few days or should i let the plant try and bring them back?

im guessing the problem is that their in direct sunlight from sunrise to bout 7 at night and its still light till 930. its been 106 highs and 80 nights with like 28% rh so i think it was jus too hot for em

the bottom leaves are going to come off soon by themselves, partial shade during the day is great,sounds like you've got a plan.good luck........... rob

their gettin color back the yellow isnt as bright and it seemed like they perked up, i misted with water bout 5 times throughout the day and moved them into the shade a 11:45 or so ,

the first pic is today at like 2 or 3

the seconds yesterdays its somewhat different

okay well some roofers are comin lol so the ladys had to com inside and the look happy out of the heat todays thier second day inside under a few cfls and seem to got a lot of their color back the burns are fading and ive lost only 3 fans and i think one more is all ill lose so thats good the smaller plant is bouncing back great im thinkin ill jus finish the grow inside cus its gonna be hot for the next month and i can keep a constant 85*f lights on and 76*f lights off so maybe thatll work ive never grown in side but whatever rite lol

Just put them in the shade when it's super hot, keep them misted, watered, and well fed. Maybe transplant them into bigger pots with top of the line soil too if you havnt already.

yeah i kepped them misted bout every hour and they got put in the shade every day for a week and it saved a few leaves but they have to stay in for atleast a week then they mite go back out if they dont look like they like the inside very much but most likely itll get to live indoors

You should paint your pots white or cover them with aluminum foil. To reflect heat.

Have you ever seen a 'solar water heater'? It's a black bag you put in the sun and boils the water inside. Your doing the same thing with those dark pots, cooking your roots!:cry:

That's why the same plant grown in the ground right next to one in a pot will grow better, cooler roots!

hmmm ive heard off "hot pot" but ive been tryin to keep an eye on them by feelin them to see if thier geting warm and it never feel s hot but ill paint em white for good measrure to make sure

The hot soil also makes the soil more acidic. That's just my experience. I'd say finish them inside or like others said a shaded spot. 100 degree and direct sunlight is just way to hot. People have done it but many have failed.

I grow outside in Sac. it was 107 today. My plants are in 15gal plastic pots that I've painted with a coat of cheep white house paint, they are thriving. I swear you can 'see' them growing in this heat. They love it if you keep their roots cool.

Try just digging a hole & dropping your pot into it, you'll see the difference.

They need more dirt also. Or put a couple of inches of mulch. Could be shreded newspaper or anything.
