do i yield more using a 1000 w or 600 w hps? although the 1000 w covers more area it has to be further away from the tops of the plants and they seem to get hotter so i would have to exhaust the heat more often causing more electricity to be consumed. 600 w can get closer to the tops doesn't create as much heat but covers less area. What should i go for? any comments would be appreciated.

A 600w lamp will yield 60% of a 1000w lamp. You can cool a 1000w just as well as a 600w, you just need more cooling to do it.

600w. if you GET MULTIPLE LIGHTS. Get 600w. IF YOU WANT BRAGGING RIGHTS AND TO SHYT ON 1000wers get 600w Lights on LIGHT MOVERS.

Light movers dont make more bud, it just spreads out lumens.
Anyhow, I run a room that's being upgraded to 24 1000w lamps. Why would I go 600w? Its about yield for me anyway.....
In a 12x12 room do (4) 1000w lamps in a square formation. You'll get about 6-8 lbs per harvest if doing just a simple bucket system with air cooling.

co2 is the key to get 1.5g per watt...... i have many harvest on my belt and have been growing for years, ive used 1000w before and im currently using 8, 600w lights with sentinel co2 ppm reader and a co2 generator produces the co2, i use 4800w total, and cover a 14x10x13h i average 1.1-1.5 per light depending on what nuits i go with

actually, not really. 600 watters have the highest lumen per watt ratio, a 600w has 90k lumens and a 1000w has 120k lumens. even by your logic it will produce 75% that of a 1000 watter. I would take a 600 and 400 watter over a 1000 every time, if you're going by watts.
i want 2-600 instead of 1-1000.

Soil for now. but these pests and such are making me wanna go back to my 18gal DWC. I dunno, any imput? seeing as im still in the beginning stages. I have some $$ to get what I need. any help? Unlimited space really, Only issue where they are now is its too cold.

i dont think caps gets your point across any further. i dont see how light movers would make more room either, having to buy a system or rail would end up taking up more space than the average hanging light, not a hanging light attached to a rail to move, the installation would be a pain in the ass also. i would say yea thats all your going for really is bragging rights that you spend a shit load of money for a minimal increase in yield.
there is something cheaper called trimming, topping and LST.
i also dont see how having lights hanging from a railed system to move would give you more plants? or space? the floor area would stay the same, if anything they will give you less height to work with even if your telling me you have lights sliding around on your walls also, not just the roof which is absurd, even then that would take up more space from your floor area. so i dont get the whole more space and more plants thing, sorry.

my caps look good when I say your WRONG. they are simple to install if you know how to use a drill. helped a friend put his up in 10min. HARDEST part was finding the correct spot to drill =/ and A light Mover WILL increase the light footprint. When I say light mover I am speaking of the automated ones that move back n fourth. thus Yes you do get more light in bigger area AND its better for your plants, you wont ever need to rotate given your in soil
