1000 watt hps for a single plant

I am a medical patient in michgan. I can grow 12 plants. Right now I have a set up with about a 3.4X3.5 area for vegging with 6 cfls in it, and a 4X5 area with a 400 watt hps set up for flowering.

I have a friend, maybe two, who are going to be getting their cards. Guaranteed qualifying condition, just a lot of hassle and time involved before its all officially legal. I am planning on being caregiver for this person btw.

My plan when this comes to fruition is to have a grow tent set up in another bedroom. I will be over capacity in my custom built area if I can have 24 plants, so I was just gonna get a grow tent and equip it. I priced it out, and to get EVERYTHING I think ill need (tent, light, ducting, pots, soil, nutes, etc) will be around $700-800. I'm budgeting $1,000 in upfront costs to be safe.

If I go ahead and get the ball rolling now, can I flower 1 or 2 huge plants under 1000 watt hps? As long as im gonna get the equipment and set it up anyway I figure I should try to maximize my yield in the meantime while staying within my 12 plant limit.

So what would happen if I just veg 2 clones with a TON of light and let em get big and flower them under 1000 watt hps? Monster yield from 2 plants?

your yeild will deffinetly be increased as the plants mature. older plants are stonger. But you should just clone your big girls. Many people who grow for profit say to fill the area with smaller plants and that increases your potetal for larger harv.

I realize that and my original plan was to go with multiple plants and do a rotating harvest of sea of green. Now that i'm official though I want to stay within my limit for plants, which means 12 at the moment. So now I want to maximize overall yield while still staying within my limits.

Will those monster plants (getting 500 or maybe 1000 watts each) yield a different quality of bud as opposed to my plants getting maybe 80-100 watts of hps currently? I would expect them to get much bigger and yield more in weight...but will it be as good? better? or the same for the same strains?

better be a monster to use a 1000 watts on one plant. would def fill the area with clones straight to flowering. all that light let me flower a few in there..lol

Well I was thinking I should make a screen and put 2 plants in huge pots, and just veg them until I can fill the entire screen, then flower it. Huge amount of green and bud, but only 2 plants. That allows me to continue on my own personal grow with 10 plants and be under the legal limit.

your budgeting a $1000? good luck with that, just your light and tent and fans will run close to that.

$260 for a grow tent, $314 for a 1000 watt hps, additional $35 for the cool tube = $609.

What fans? $15 for an oscillating fan. $20 for a fan to make a diy carbon filter (if and when its necessary. I dont even run my home made carbon filter in my other grow, though I do vent directly outside). Then all I need is a fan to run the cool tube. The other fan I have now is an inline duct fan and was about $30. It does an ok job. I will need something bigger for 1000 watt hps, but I can't imaging it will cost that much. I don't plan on venting this outside either. I think I can still fall under the $1,000 mark for a total set up.

Well I was wondering the same thing and I will let u know currently got a 1000w in a setup like SCOTTYBALLS ScRog waterfarm setup. Custom retrofitted a 1000w street hps lamp and temp so far are exactly as the were with my 150w hps but I'm hoping this light goes for better bigger buds but I wonder if there such thing as TOO much light. Like does some light go unused because its TOO abundant? Sorry wass loking for that and came across this so ill let u know how it goes I'm growing seedsman ww in a GH WaterFarm at day 27.

I've been trying to figure this out myself for a while & still haven't come across a straightforward answer with specs... I want to do one massive plant under 1000w or either two under 2x600w lights. No reason to try to have 6 when I can do the same with 1 or 2.

Dead thread, but I've been searching all over the internet for the exact information stated in the OP. How did a plant or two turn out under a 1000w? And how long did you veg? I'm almost at 3 months from seed and the plant is wider than it is tall - mostly from topping, but I think I might give it another month to shoot up before I take some clones and then bust into flower.

I don't think I should expect a reply on a ~4 year old thread haha.
