1000w mh/hps electric ballast with lower wattage Bulbs ?

Heres my question guys sorry if its been asked...i did some lookin around in this and other forums but could N0t find a real answer..I have a 1000W mh/hps electronic ballast. CAN I SAFELY RUN A 175W BULB WITH IT??? or will that blow the bulb.i only have two clones growing under sum6500k cfls...:confused:..THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY1 WHO CAN HELP ME OUT WITH THIS

That was a quick answer thanks.i thought so....i have anotha question...i have a 175w wall mount mh light fixture with ballast and cap in 1 unit but its not wired up.its a multi tap ballast was wired for 277 when i got it.. I switched it to 120v and connected my common n ground to a 16gauge cord.i plugged my 175w bulb n connected to power but nothing happens....wat did i do wrong...i know my bulb work cause i plugged it to my 1k ballast set up real quick and it turned on....so maybe i wired the light fixture wrong...its a cooper light 175w multi tap trans type-cwa lp type m57...
Its got 2 whites coming out of trans named com...1 com connects to the socket the other connects to com from cord..do i got to connect all com together maybe??again thanks to any1 that can help.............
