So in the last week I really upgraded on an ambitous closet gro room. I am still dialing it in and light proofing and whatever I can, but work a lotRight now I have a closet about 7'x2'x9'ft tall. I built some tables to cut the room into two; one with 70inches of height and one with 40inches for vegging. I am running a 1000W HPS hortilux on a a 4foot rail. It has a 4in inline vortex sucking air into the attic as well as one box fan at full speed. The bottom vegging chamber is an 8bulb 4ft T5 that is vegging 8 plants and some clones. I grow in soil and use a combination of nutes like floranova, cal mag, root 66, bud candy... I currently have about 14 strains that I am trying out to pick some good mothers for the next couple of goes. some of the ones Im ecited about are Chem Dawg, Double Underdog, Blue Dream, Grape Ape, Hash Plant, Green Crack, and Mr. Nice. I have 5 going into flowering and in one month I will fill the flowering chamber with the rest.
However I am having heat issues. With the flaps and doors ajar it is peaks to 87 but since it is on a rail, I believe this temp is only for a brief period on the highest peaks. I have to use a decent amount of ducting b/c of the rail. I am just using the passive venting from the doors and flaps. I think the bottom part is running a little lower at 80 but I am going to put another little fan in there.
Is there a way to drop the heat a few degrees without switching to a 600W???
Is this way too hot to try to operate at?
Will sativas work better than indica?
Have any of yall used those heat shields for your reflector?
