12/12 from seed cfl ghetto grow, monsters?!

First journal, second grow! My first is still ongoing but about to chop one of the two northern lights autos...i must admit i've taken a fair bit of "tester" bud off it  i calculated 8.7g wet, which gave me 3g dry of lovely smoke. Hoping the rest of it will add up to at least another 8g dry, just to get into double figures on the yield front! Pics of frost...

So for my second grow. 12/12 from seed. Under 4 30w blue cfls. In a cardboard box lined with mylar sheeting. Ghetto!
Three plants, two strains:
One DNA Sleestack (reg).
Two Eva Monsters (fem).
1212start.jpg

Day 1, the sleestack germinated two days quicker than the monsters. Not sure if this is a trait of eva seeds but a heads up for anyone thinking of popping them - the seed shells are an absolute killer, rock solid and with my two BOTH needed some strenuous help casting them off, they have a vice-like grip!
The pics are (i think) at 4 days since they all popped through. I went away for 2 days and when i came back the sleestack had stretched the hell out of itself, and the monsters are showing the battle scars from the evil seed shells.

And so to the present day, 8 days old, repotted and freshly watered.
A quick pic to show the soil i'm using, this stuff was very cheap and is lovely, fluffy light soil. There are a few blue "bead" things in there which i'm hoping don't contain harsh nutes, there is nothing on the packaging with the full ingredients so fingers crossed they agree with my 12/12 babies. Has anyone used this and can give some feedback please?

Your soil looks chock full of good nutrients...but its water retention will be your issue...you REALLY need to load up on the perlite in it to have it drain excess water and allow the root system to dry and get oxygen. If your medium holds water all the time it will rot the root system out :( The beads in it are time release nutrients...that if they are kept wet they will all burst throwing more nutrients in the soil...when using this type of product you rarely have to give any additional nutrients during at least the first month, if not longer, depending on how frequently you have to water it.

Thanks, valuable advice :) they will be repotting soon (mostly to cover the sleestacks stretch with adequate soil space) so i'll make sure there is perlite in the mix :peace:

Looks good to me. I use potting soil and it has those little blue/green balls as well. Its a slow release fertilizer, no problems so far and mine are nearly 2 weeks. I am going to transplant my one plant this weekend into the same potting soil. Massah's right about the water, the stuff holds water a lot so don;t over do it. Make sure plenty of drainage. Keep posting the pics...

Thanks Reef, glad yours are doing well with it :peace:

Lol Loop come give 12/12 a try mate  it's a good experiment and the electricity bill will be kinder that's for sure!
The trich pics are for you, thought you'd like them :) really hope i get into double figures yield wise on her, the bud i've tested so far is incredible, nice and mellow smiley stuff :weed:
The other plant is a weekish away, and she's bigger than this one, excited! :peace:

Back finally for a progress report! Day 17.... think the pics say it all, the sleestack is booming (pleasepleaseplease be female??!!) and the monsters must be vaping themselves when i'm not looking cos they are taking it way too eeeeeeeasy!! Tsk...damn stoners ;)
Still no change in set-up - 4 30w blue cfls forming a close canopy on top of all 3 plants, if i can save my pennies i might up the wattage with a cfl upgrade...every little helps, and i don't want them to get as stretchy as my first grow. Nice even air circulation, vented through a hole in the top of the box (lol did i say ghetto?) temps between 24 and 28c. Water, no nutes.

And just a little extra pic of a nug i chopped from my nl auto 1st grow, mmmmm :weed: lol
They are both all finished, chopped and are drying. Tiny yield (i scribbled the figures somewhere, will post when i find) but the quality is lovely and i was just happy i managed to steer them through their life-cycle to a happy conclusion

Good to see you Kevin, thanks for having a look :) really appreciate it, hope all is good with you mate :peace:
Got to ask advice mate...if the sleestack carries on growing that much faster than the monsters, should i be considering tying it down soon? From what i've read about the strain it's advised to let it grow untouched, but i'd rather not have the pain in the ass of having such a height difference if the monsters stay small! Maybe wait and see if it's female and then judge the situation? :peace:

Haven't changed from the west+ mate, looking for some perlite, lol none of the shops i know have any in stock, I might mix some in when i transplant just to help drainage but very happy with how this soil is performing on it's own, drains and dries nicely and everything's looking green and healthy :) you were right mate it's good stuff, not too gutted if i go the distance with it :peace:

Edit- cheers Mrgreen, thanks for stopping by mate :)

Back with a pic update Day 27 :)
Not much to report, no sign of sex from the sleestack yet but i'm checking every day! The monsters are still very slow.

Sleestack.
day27sstackb.jpgday27sstack.jpg

No change in conditions, no nutes. A bit more stretch than i'd like but the tower fan blowing on them has built their stems up nicely. I want to transplant them asap but going to wait on the sleestack to hopefully be female, then they'll be going into 6.5 litre pots. Haven't managed to purchase perlite but the soil is very good so far, and it virtually tells me when it needs water! So i think it's a keeper for the whole distance :peace:
