Welcome to RIU!

You should take a look at a 150w HPS, I promise by the time you are all done DIY'n your light you will have spent more than this, and it will give you a much better yield. I have one in a 17"W 16"D 40" tall cab and my temps stay at about 78. The light has to stay about 12" away from the tops, and the plants LOVE IT.

Here is the light, it comes with an 150W HPS bulb (used for flowering, but can be used for vegetative growth). For auto-flowering plants this should be all you need:
http://www.amazon.com/Sun-System-Watt-Reflector-Ballast/dp/B00269RWQI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1295788033&sr=8-3

If you really want to "splurg" you can spring for the MH bulb (better for vegetative growth). If you use this, you will have to pay attention and switch the bulbs when the plant starts flowering:
http://www.amazon.com/TCP-PS-150-Watt-Pulse-Halide/dp/B001JEPKHO/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1295788323&sr=1-1

If you need to cool it down use this:
http://www.homedepot.com/buy/building-materials/heating-venting-cooling/inductor/4-in-inline-duct-fan-62960.html

I bet there are quite a few people on here that regret doing their own, when a slightly bigger investment would have done it better. That is lighting, what you should DIY is your hydroponics setup. Simply google DIY DWC setup.

.3 grams per watt so split that up in between 5 plants thats not much i would get 2 of those CFLS grow 2 at a time that leaves you with ummmmmmm roughly 37.5 grams per plant??? Someone who is good at math plz intervene =D

I would stick with CFLS for know considering this is your first grow
For your first grow u can dial everything in get your intake and eqaust soil ready then i would grab that HPS by then you will prolly upgrade to a better tent and want a higher watt HPS

hmm with a small tent passive intake should work. If you suck through a straw with your finger on the other end nothing happens? remove your finger and shabam should work the same way with your tent if not go to a computer store and buy a few PC fans get used ones for like 5$

If you have room for reflecters they will help alot theres alot of lumens that get wasted without

Pics will help you got a camera?
