14 Medical States, Who’s card is good where?

It seem's that state laws are constantly changing and that there is always a new need to make another change. The subject of travel may present just an issue. If your sick in MI are you bound to the state? Vis versa if your an outsider with a card, can you be safe if MI?

I spend time at hospitals where I cannot care for myself after surgery. I depend on my caregiver to deliver edible meds. I expect that I may be in for some hurt if I do commit to the surgery that is to take place at the University of Michigan. I know there is a better medical marijuana effort/program being made in MI, than in my state of AK, however I fear that my card and my caregiver's card will be invalid.

Can anyone speak on this?

I would be real careful about traveling with marijuana even if its med. Chances are even the destination and source are cool the in between may not be. I can tell you I had CCW permit in GA and was traveling to NC (where my permit wa good), got pulled over by SCHP, and told the cop I had a gun in the glovebox, showed him my permit, then the next thing I know he's calling in back up and I was headed to the Columbia slammer for firearms possession. I ended up getting let go, with my pistol, but I could've found myelf in a world of shit.

Funny I grew up in SC and did the EXACT same thing between GA and NC. Laughs. *Damn the Good ol' boys again* No carry laws here in AK. Can carry a semi auto assault rifle in to the grocery store under your trench coat and be safe and legal at the same time! (we all saw the moose stomp the lady leaving the store didnt we?)

I wouldn’t carry meds. I am more concerned with availability once I am there. More so, I am a card holder and its obvious why. My caregiver however, is the only one who can get meds while I am in the hospital and I am worried that she would be turned down in MI for having only an AK card. Would anyone agree?

I am hoping to find or create a list of states that except other states med cards. Any help would be appreciated.

Found this....

Maryland Residents
: Maryland currently has no reciprocity agreements with other states to honor Maryland's medical marijuana patients. This includes even those states that currently have medical marijuana laws of their own. However, in Montana, medical marijuana patients from other states who are valid medical marijuana patients under that state's law are protected under Section 4(8) of the Montana Medical Marijuana Act [Sec. 50-46-201(8), MCA]. A registry identification card or its equivalent issued by another state government to permit the medical use of marijuana by a qualifying patient or to permit a person to assist with a qualifying patient's medical use of marijuana has the same force and effect as a registry identification card issued by the Department of Public Health and Human Services in Montana. Therefore, medical marijuana patients from Maryland should be protected in Montana under Montana state law. See the Montana Patients Guide for details on the protections and limitations that Montana state law affords medical marijuana patients.

EDIT:

and.....

The reciprocity clause of the Rhode Island Medical Marijuana Act protects patients from any medical marijuana state who are in Rhode Island and have their documentation with them. This means that patients from Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington, who are in possession of a medical marijuana license, may possess up to 2.5 ounces of medical marijuana in the state of Rhode Island. However, to participate in the RI Medical Marijuana Program by appointing a caregiver, these patients would need to become RI patients by obtaining a RI medical marijuana license from the RI Department of Health.

Michigan and Montana also both have this reciprocity clause, so Rhode Island's patients are legally protected for possessing and using medical marijuana in those states. In November 2009 Maine will vote on adding reciprocity to their law, which would protect Rhode Island patients within the state of Maine.

Michigan, Rhode Island, and Montana are the only ones that recognize other states medical programs.

Should u be arrested in Michigan with/without a card and are prosecuted you can use Affirmitive defense in court (you don't have a card or you have a card and are over the rules/limits), If you an prove that it was only for medical use to a judge or jury then you can win your case. I am pretty sure other states likely have affirmitive defense also.

That being said, It is highly unlikely that you would get busted with edibles, the fact is most cops here dont really care about marijuana and most prosecuters will not prosecute someone as soon as they start claiming is for medical reasons the case will be dismissed unless they have really strong evidence against you (such as evidence that you are a dealer). Detroit will soon have a law that legalizes marijuana possesion under an ounce for adults on private property and in Ann-Arbor (the place that the main U of M campus is located) marijuana has been decriminilized under an ounce is only a 25$ ticket. There is also citys like flint that have their own medical marijuana laws protecting medical users.

So really Michigan is a pretty good place to be for a marijuana user, its not the best but it is pretty safe. I work in a hospital and I see 100's of tox screens a night, more than 9 out of 10 people are positive for marijuana if that gives you an idea how much it is part of our culture.

Yes I would agree with that. A lot of out of state cards have come through. You have to have a Michigan ID or drivers license. No more out of state ID's

The problem is, all medical marijuana transfers are illegal between anyone except for a patient and their designated caregiver.
