i have a really small room 4x3 so 150 would make it happen was thinking of just getting a cmh so i wouldnt need a second light what do you think that could cost power wise? running 18/ or 24/ then 12/ twice a year?

depends on how much you pay for hydro where you are ... you pay per kilowatt hour, so a 150hps uses 150watts per hour .. multiply 150, times the hrs of on , divide by 1000 and it will give you kwh .. then multipy that with the cost of your hydro ...

Ballast also eats power, separate from the 150w bulb
never heard of that bro .. yes the ballast uses 110v and x amout of amps to produce 150watts ... no more no less .. called ohm's law ... amps X volts = watts ... so 150w fixture , hps or mh, 150 watts is 150watts ...

say i run it average 180 days a year 18 hours a day -3240 x150-486000 div by 1k -486 its about 8cent per kwh -3888 so $38.88 does that sound about right?

i mean is my math off? which is normally is

nope he's right, that's why a digital ballast is cheaper to run than a magnetic. both use some energy up though. If they were 100 % efficient they wouldn't run so hot.

hmmm 150 w x 18hr = 2700 w/day 2.7 x 8cts = 21.6cents a day .. 21.6 x 180days =$38.88 math seems right on to me lol

so what ! I was just making a point for fuck sake, BOTH produce a lot of heat, that heat isn't produced for free, it's lost electricity.

do they make them that low? 150 would work perfect for my stealth... i really didnt wanna get a 250 but i also really didnt wanna have to switch out my lights for flower and i refuse to flower with tubes

Make sure to match the ansi ballast #.
I use a CMD145 Phillips bulb in my M57 MH 175 magnetic ballest.
And a Hortilux blue 150w HPS in my cab.
Got mine from 1000bulbs.com 60$ ish.

They also run cooler than a hps or MH bulbs

a 150 watt on average will run about 15-25 bucks a month depending on which usage (kilowate rate) bracket you fall into. THe more you use in your household the high price bracket you fall into. When i called my local pge they told me 14 cents, then 20 cents, then 26 cents, than 32 , 46, something like that. thats a rough example

But i'd say 15-25 bucks a month on 18-6, 20-4, 24/7. and 10-20 bucks a month on 12-12...these are just estimates and probably off a lil bit. but all you gotta do is go to google time online kilowate costs or something like that and you can do the math yourself after finding out your rate and brackets.

it wont costs much for a 150w

would a 150w hps be sufficient for a 4x4x3 grow space just a small small area? my main concern is heat cuz i really have no way to deal with it.
