1700w

One light or several? HPS?

You want minimum 50 watts HID per square foot in flower, so with 1700W HID you can cover 34 square feet.

With one big 1700W HID the light intensity will be greatest under the light and weaker towards the sides of the grow - unless you have a light mover or plan on moving plants regularly this will cause you problems.

I double top my plants and tomato cage them, I can jam 12 plants (~2 oz) and a 2'x2' hydro table in my 4.5' x 4.5' room (20 sq ft). I could jam, and I mean jam, 16 tomato caged plants in my 20 square feet - plants ~36", 4 cola. Single cola plants probably would be about the same if a similar height.

Probably a better way to look at 1700W is that an experienced grower may shoot for 1 gram per watt HID, while less experienced growers could expect 1/4 to 1/2 gram.

This type of question has probably been answered a few hundred times in newbie central, if you search that sub forum you can probably find all the info you need.

See how that diagram comes out. Spread your lights around and keep your eyes on the UVB thread in this forum.

Good luck!!
