1st blue rhino clone DWC hydro grow journal

Hey guys and gals,

Today is day 1 of a new, fantastic journey that I will share with all of you. Hopefully at the end of the process i'll have created many clones and a good amount of bud (3-4oz).

The setup:
10 gallon rubbermaid tub
2 walmart air pumps
2 lil' air stones
2 large airstones
hydroton medium
1 net pot
400w mh for flowering/400w hps for flowering
1 blue rhino clone rooted via rapid rooters (took the stubborn girl 5 weeks to root)

K guys today i setup the light, blacked the top out, added 30% h2o2 to the purified and ph balanced water at 5.8

For nutes ill be using general hydroponics maxigrow, maxibloom and koolbloom in powder form. Ill start the nutes as soon as there is 3rd node growth.

Plans for the plant:
Grow in veg for about 4-5 weeks @ 24/0 light and pumps.
Get about 10-12 clones off my baby. Let it grow about another 2 weeks then its off to flowering for 7-8 weeks.

A little update guys,

Today i checked my net pot and i have a couple roots popping out the the bottom. There has been a little bit of top growth, the leaves are getting larger everyday.

I had to switch from 24/0 to 20/4 due to my ballast overheating and shutting off. It tripped me out when it first happened, I thought my bulb blew out or my ballast was done for but after letting it cool off for a while it came back on w/ no problem.

I have been top feeding 2x daily for the roots to grow, now that there are a couple coming from the bottom ill switch to just 1 time a day. Its only been not even 5 days and the roots are showing, im so excited to see the exponential amount of growth that the DWC can do!

1 week of dwc.

I emptied out the res, cleaned and scrubbed it w/ a sponge purified water and some horticulture h202. Then i made my first batch of nutrients consisting of:

6 gallons of purified water
1 1/4 teaspoon of maxibloom GH
40 ml of 30% h202

Shook the s*** out of the 5 gallon jugg, then made a another gallon of solution and shook the s*** out of that. Ph balanced it to about 5.3-5.5 and put it in the rez.

I am seeing more root growth from the sides of the net pot. The plant itself still hasnt grown too much but i think its due to the roots taking some time to find the water. Once they find their way into the rez im sure my girl will take off.

it also doesnt help that my temps inside my closet r kinda high.. 82-86

i just got my exhaust fan and ordered my cool tube, which should arrive by next week..

Then im predicting absolute monster growth!!! SOOOO stoked!

week 3 update:

I had to take down my 400w mh as my dam ballast kept overheating and shutting off at random times.

I am using fluros right now and it seems to be working just fine. I have had some additional top growth and the roots are finally working their way out of the sides of the basket and into the water.

I just dumped the rez, cleaned it out good and refilled it w/ purified water, some more h202 and maxi grow.

The temps have been consistent in the range of 71-75 and the water temp at 70-72.

The airpumps are still holding up just fine and i have backups in case.

Q for anyone reading this.

The site where i bought my ballast was insidesun.com and they state on their website that every ballast has a 3 yr warranty. Well ive called about 5 times, left 2 messages and wrote a email w/ no response. What should i do? Should i contact the BBB or what? Any other alternative?

YO DUDE! UPDATE! Finally another person growing Blue Rhino. I'm not sure if we've got the same strain or not. Maybe there's only one. I got my clones from a guy who purchased them a long time ago(older guy). My stems are very purple in color! Also, what's with the leaves man? As far as nutes, the guy told me they don't take too many to grow. I'm not sure though, good luck! I'll update my journal if you update your's

Come on guys, where's the updates? I've got a Blue Rhino seedling on it's way..I wanna see it's potential!!

bump what happened? Im growing some blue rhino out rite now...its an old strain..the seeds were about 9 years old
