Im into my first grow and want to clone my plants. I know to cut diagonally, to dip in water then cloning powder but what do I put them in after that and what else do i need to know?

Welcome Wellgreen

You should put them in a cup that does not allow light to where you want the roots to grow.

The clones need minimal light.
Do not put them under veg or flower lights.

Put them about 6ft away from an incadescent.

I want to start a bubble cloner myself.
I plan to use a coffe jug (folgers plastic jug)
I then plan to cut holes in lid in a circle.
I will place 1-2" plastic tubes in the holes to hold the clones.
I also will have a pump with air stone in the bottom of the jug.

I might add root hormone.

Clones are not hard as long as you know what they need.
Check out growfaq.

Happy growing

this was how i cloned before i made my own bubble cloner. well 1st of all everyone has there different methods, i've rooted clones with and without rooting gel(or powder) but i find it is faster with the rooting gel. after i make my cut i dip my cutting in a shot glass of lukewarm water then quickly into rooting harmone(not necessary, but it does help them root faster) then straight into a rocwool cube, i then put the cube into one of those mini greenhouse trays you can buy from walmart i hit em with some wilt spray(wilt spray helps keep moisture in) and cover with the clear dome for the 1st 5 days(the dome helps keep humidity high) if they look really bad after a day or so i'll even lightly mist the clones and mist the dome as well to keep the humidity high. i keep 1 26watt cfl on them until i see roots then its off to my mh for some serious light to veg them. got maybe a 90% success rate. you will prolly hear other techniques that work just as well or better stick with the one that works for you!

i like this thread. a bubble cloner is the best way to go. DIY FTW! some kind of styrofoam to anchor the cuttings, or you could buy some neoprene inserts like used in an E-Z-Clone. roots will grow in the light, but it should only be the weak light you are feeding the plants with.

YOu may want to check out Al B Fucts recent post on cloning. MOgie posted a fine tutorial on cloning which I printed out and used. Both of these have pictures. VV
