1st time growing looking for some advice...(pictures included)

I have 11 small plants varying from 2 weeks old to 3 weeks old. I have a SunSystem 150watt HPS set up along with some cheapo fans. There is white reflective material lining the inside(reflects up 92% light back to the plants.) I was wondering if i had the my light source close enough? I know I am not supposed to keep them all in one bucket, but I don't have the means for much more space. So I am merely keeping them all together until I can determine the sex. Then I plan on purchasing another 150Watt SunSystem kit and double my grow space and replanting the winning females in their own 3 gallon buck. I figured I could yield from 3-4 plants with 2-150watt HPS. Let me know what you guys think. I would greatly appreciate the advice.

how far away from the plants is the light and to be honest if your growin 11 babies and they all or mostly turn out to be girls your gonna need more than 2 150w hps otherwise you aint gonna get enough light penetration to the lower limbs as they get older but even with 3 or 4 plants your really gonna want at least a 400w hps or even better a 600w hps which is what im using for 4 ladies and in pic no.2 i see you have a couple of them in see through pots you need to get them outta there otherwise you could end up with root rot and algae if the light hits the roots but happy growing dude good luck

You should be more worried about the thousand plants in that one pot, they are unhealthy and stunted. The others look ok.

I have transplanted all of them into one....and I had seen a few growers do this before they determined the sex. I gonna pull out all the males when i found out their sex. I only have money for one more 150wHPS.....so if i end up with all of them being females...im gonna move the weaker looking ones outside, and tend to 2-3 really healthy looking females indoors. And they are like 5" from the light to answer your question mike1977. I am using Miracle-Gro Organic soil along with Miracle-Gro ORganic AP plant food, and Garden Safe Fungicide 3. You guys have any advice other than spending all the money I got in my pocket on a growers paradise? And thanks for all your help folks...I wish you all good luck, good growing, and good smoking!

I just don't like the idea of many plants in one pot. You will never be able to separate them. Even if you get a lot of males you are going to have roots so intertwined that it will be impossible to untangle them. 2 or 3 plants can be a nightmare, 11? Wow.

You are making some huge mistakes dude...

As already mentioned, all those seeds in one pot -- man oh man.

Miracle Grow products -- terrible!

Those lanky sprouts are very much deprived of necessary light.

I realize you are trying to get enough females to make it worth your while, so what you do is start with 4 plants (in their own pots please!) and hope for 2 girls.

I am familiar with that 150W, it is good for 1 plant MAYBE 2.

Good luck, hope you can correct some of this (especially the single container thing) before you find out the hard way.

wbd what is the "hard way." The seeds were free and I spent less then $150 on equipment that will last for a long time. Even if i kept all of them in one pot for the entire growth period and they were are females, what would happen. It would stunt their growth and bud production greatly, but once I found out which are females I am going to move them all around to their own spot. Is it unhealthy to keep them all together when they are soo young? I mean, can't they withstand being re-planted when they get bigger and I found out the sex?

Transplanting is easy. Untangling roots that have grown into each other for days/weeks is not. You can do it, but you will rip and tear a lot of tendrils and that is going to shock them for a few days at least.

You think you're going to be able to separate the roots do you? Roots grow very fast and will tangle. You'll be forced to break some of them a stunt the plant. Grow them in party cups first, sex, then transplant.

Can't I tear out the male plants and just cut them at the base, leaving their old roots in soil?

Well I appreciate all the feed back, and tomorrow I will try and re-arrange all the plant tomorrow for a more suitable growing atmosphere....I will re-post and get your advice once again.

You can but you know what they will do... they will rot and decompose and unbalance the soil if you have any sort of regimented feeding going on. Fresh decomposition isn't good for plants at all. It could also spread fungus, mold and rot to fresh roots that are nearby.

Your entire growth period will be limited, I would be surprised if you reach harvest. Actually I would be surprised if you got much past the 3-week mark. That's the "hard way".

That container is not really even big enough for a single mature plant and with what you've done here you WILL NOT be able to transplant to a proper container.

You should take evasive action immediately, it's not even worth trying to prove me (us) wrong.

Don't know if you wan that. Something about root rot and it spreading to healthy roots. I'm not sure, don't quote me on it. Even still, you'll have famales in the same pot. Given the right conditions, plants will tend to be female anyway. You don't need that much. These are photoperiod, correct? You'll be good for 1, maybe 2 photoperiods under that 150. Trust me, I'm growing an auto under one and I think I can only do that one. If you find a female, just clone her to get more. Having that many is a waste, to me.

ok so I have pulled the week ones out and tomorrow I am purchasing another 150watt HPS kit...splitting them up into 3 separate pots. I appreciate the advice, and I know im not taking it 100%....but it will get better. I have 4 seeds waiting to sprout anyways.....so im not worried about picking up from the beginning and doing it right.
