Which will be more efficient for 8 plants.

I am currently using about 300 watts and plan to up it to 400 watts or more.

Would this be as effective as two 150watt hps lights?

So what im trying to compare is 300 watt hps vs 400 watt cfl. 400 hps vs 500 cfls. etc..

Thanks

two 150s will put out more lumens with less draw than 400w worth of cfls. two 150w hps lamps should give you 32,000 lumens, whereas 400 watts worth of cfls would give you 24,000 lumens. thus, hps lamps are more efficient in terms of lumens per watt. plus hps lamps provide better light frequencies for flowering than do cfls.

as much of a cfl fan that i am, at 400 watts hps makes a lot more sense
the 400 watt hps has a big jump in efficiency - not sure of the availability of 300 watt hps though 250 watt is a common wattage

i agree with the rest...HPS all the way...check out High Tech Garden Supply..they sometimes have deals where you can get a HPS ballast with bulb and a MH conversion bulb so you can maximize your vegging and flowering periods and not have fork out the dough for two separate ballasts..
