2 Newbie questions...

I am getting some autos for the first time

2 newbie questions...I tried to get answers online here and a few other places before posting here to ask. No luck.

OK

-Do you have to sex autos, or are they all feminized? I have previously used feminized seeds, never thought about autos before.

-Since the auto plants will be smaller, can I get away with 3 gallon pots to save space in my 2x4x7' cabinet, or would I be better served to stay with 5 gals? I am getting 8 seeds...not sure if I should try to fit all 8 in there, or do 2 grows with 4 plants each time.

If I do need to sex them, and screw up sexing them (assuming I have to) will the resulting seeds be autos as well?

Whoops...that is 3 questions :shock:

Sexing them? Idk what that means bra but auto are fems..theyr good to go.
and i really dont know where you got the idea that autos are smaller?by nature? no..it depends on the strain and on your growing skills,you can get just as big with autos as you can with photo plants.
I got a lil auto going on right now which is in late flowering stage and is measuring 1.2m height and about half of that in width..jus sayin'
(running a DWC)

The fem thing is a load off my mind, thanks! (sexing them just means determining their sex and culling out the males...something I am not overly confident of doing properly)

I guess I read somewhere online that autos tend to be smaller, like 3' tops, no larger...but the 5' that you are raising would contradict that. No problem....more plant = more bud (I hope)

Sounds like I should just do 4 plants in my 2x4 tent, which should be plenty. Got a 600W HPS light, and all the fans I need. I should be good to go.

Autos probably come up smaller cause the slightest mistake that causes any shock will slow their growth. As soon as they break ground they're on the clock.
Here's some proof of this where I wanted to see what happened if I shocked an auto to the point it wouldn't grow.

1 micro plant (auto cheese pounder).
She's about 2 weeks from harvest in my estimates.

Wouldn't it suck if you harvested, dried, cured that little lady...and it turned out to be the best smoke you ever had? Dig: all your friends are trying it one night and raving about how great it is... "Damn Cornish... How much of this do you have?"

I did a little checking... and mine are autos and fem. But I m a noob to autos, (and growing generally) so don't take that too far

sure,I guess you can,if you really desire to,but I meant the autos that consumers inquire through the strain catalogs on varies websites, 'Autoflower' strains are all meant to be fems.

Let us all hope and pray that is not the case Mr. freddfish!!

What is apparent to me is the vast differences between one strain. Have planted 5 of this strain and all are producing their own quirks and characteristics. Going for my trans siberians after this grow though.
This was just a dummy run to fine tune my rig :)

Thank God. I was afraid you had a tent full of those tiny gals.

I bet it WILL be some good smoke, though... She gathered every bit of light that was there.

Here are the strains i chose after reviewing ALOT of autos

Thc bomb auto
Smokin' gun auto
Cherry bomb auto
And sweet dark devil auto

Included info with corresponding pics aswell
