20 TON ROSIN
I have set up a rosin squisher. Harbor Freight shop press converted to 20ton air hydraulic jack & a set of Low Temp heated plates. I squished my first rosin yesterday. I love this stuff. all questions & comments welcome.....I'm a Rosineer!

that's rad, what heating solutions are you using? and grams or z's per press?

ADD: its looks like some good black for a second.

That's exactly what I use. Please upgrade the shitty grade 4 oem hardware to grade 10. I've seen the grade 4 sheer off from the 20ton use when pressing. I also see you went with the 5x7 plates. I went with the 3x5, I press 5g keif in 2.25x4.5" baggies with no blowouts. I like 210*, but trying 220* next time I press. Sho bags are the baggies I use, 25iu. Higher temps lose terps, but more shatter like, lower temps more terps but gooey consistancy. It's better to have too much psi than not enough. Can always dial down the pressure, but can't get more psi If running a smaller press.

Thanks for the info, I may buy a set of 3x5 plates as well..

pre-pressed the kief into paddy's in these screen bags before pressing....no blowouts:eyesmoke:
the tea bags didn't work so good. But i'll try them again.

That's a good approach that I have not tried. I compress my kief into pellets and then put in a screen. This causes a lot of ripped screens. Will try your method next go around! Not sure anyone needs 20 tons to press kief! Just big plates. It presses out with low pressure compared to buds.

This is true, but I was covering all the bases when I bought the equipment..

I'm sure that its a dark amber because of the strain, did you try any n the 180 degree range? Have you tried other strains and achieved a nice yellow yet?
no just starting out. I have a lot of exploring to do..

I agree, at those temps color is a matter of strain and age. I can get everything from dark black to light yellow clear using the same procedures on different types and ages of strains. Some sappy, some shatter. Some good yielding, some not.

Some day I see a rosin or extract rating for strains, because they don't all extract equally!
