2022 outdoor start

I hacked together a low tunnel, thought id share cuz it's super easy to get a headstart on 2022 outdoors. I made some pvc snap clips and can get that 6mil plastic real tight and secure, it's just draping over now.

Tonight will be a first hard test with 27f expected. First time im trying this.
Plan is do a low tunnel just to get pheno expression, then transplant individuals :)

Day 2 of sub freezing mornings and still no idea if they survived under there, lol.
Will check today after it warms up. A perk of breeding, and having space, that's a rejected pheno i left out for reference.

I'm usually popping beans every month and then trying to figure out how to grow em and where...if i can get thru jan/feb with seedlings, i can grow here 365 days a year...maybe lol.idk yet

I’m too far north in North Central Oregon. We got almost 3 feet of snow last week still have knee deep snow.
I’ll pop my seeds March 15 indoors under lights 18 hours a day, then move to my greenhouse when I transplant to 1 gallon containers in April supplementing natural sunlight 3 hours in the AM and 2 hours PM after sundown.
They’ll go in the ground, raised bed or container sometime after May 15.

Got at my seeds from Hembra Gentics. Fast and easy!

This isnt a journal per se, i just wanted to show you guys a low tunnel start. Also there's no low tunnel threads...so boom i own Broadway, pay rent... You guys further north can stop worrying about last frost date with this, you only have to care about last snow event really..with a caveat to that statement...your ground temps will be shit until you get into real spring, raised beds may be a requirement.

Iv started! And right now I’m just keeping my winter crop alive and vigor. Just layer down 2 60lb bags of mycros and amendment. Spread em out. And soak the fuck out of it. Drown the dirt. Let set for a couple of weeks. Repeat.
I only ever have to use water outside. The occasional bottle of earth juice as a treat I guess. Idk. Call me weird. 10bucks.
Looks healthy for outside starts!!

Yes. But after container starts. Usually first transplant. Sometimes second. It’s too hot in SoCal to grow in pots for my area of the desert. They always die unless put in ground.
or in Giant Pots. 100g or more. I cut the bottoms out my 35g fabric pots for this year.
