hey guys!

well as the title says I am on my 2nd week of flowering and it seems like i am starting to have some problems.

my bottom leaves are yellowing on both plants and on my smaller plant it looks like a spot of browning. I am using botanicare bloom for both my plants I started at half strength during 1st week of flower and they seemed to love it so i tried to bump up to full strength which they seemed to love...but now they are starting to yellow at the bottom.

I wasnt sure if its the natural process since its putting everything into making (hopefully)big buds or maybe i over nuted and now need to flush?

also other than the yellowing how do they look?

thanks for any thoughts advice!

Your bloom nutrients might not have much N in them and they might need a little boost. Still combine some of your veg nutrients with your bloom, or add bone meal or something high in N to your soil to fix this.

your plants look nice and small, ready to put everything into the bud soon.
Few Q's..

PH water/ run off?
Nutes used and are you following a chart or a friend?

Could be as simple as N or Cal/Mg- I bet Cal/mg but i need/ we need to know more =) Nice plants.

They look basically healthy, and if you are feeding lightly I'd suggest this; check your PH, both before watering, and test the run-off. I wouldn't add anything until you know if you are in the proper PH range. There is a good chance your nute mix is fine, but the PH is off slightly, but off just enough to produce some lock out for some of the components in the nute mix.

Check your PH before you add anything else to your feeding!

what type of lighting are you using? i noticed with my ladies that the bottom leaves or anything under the main canopy would turn yellow and die until i added some cfl's underneath as additional lighting to my 600w hps... helped with the yellowing but now i just cut/prune all that stuff underneath off... would def keep an eye on those pH levels as well...

Ph is 6.0 and runoff is 6.5 I am using a 90w tri-spec led a 14w sunshine led for side lighting and a 2700k cfl for side lighting. I also just lst'd my tall plant and it does look a tad better than 2 days ago. And as for the nutes I am just following the chart on the bottle which has a npk of 2-3-5

i have been growing in Promix with 6.3 water / 5.5 or so run off. and the plants are super happy.
strain does make a difference but I would say if you are following a chart and all looks well and dandy- it could be and likely is MG/ Cal or N
as they look happy minus the little yellowing. i had the same problem (ish) and Its a quick fix.

Btw when I water I usually don't water til there is runoff as I'm afraid of overwatering I think I must roughly water my plants about 8 oz of water every 5 days or so(whenever the soil feels dry enough) is this adequate? Or should I increase? I know they say if it ain't broke don't fix it but id love to get maximum results with the yield.

Ouch. That will give a nice yellow hue to your leaves for sure!

Edit: didnt see a 2nd page.

I work in horticulture, have for a while and I am incharge of the watering of thousands of plants. All of which are non cannabis related- sadly, anyways...
I like to water my current grow with run off every 3rd watering with watering every 3-4 days (all depending on transition stage)
If you pick up the pot and feel its light, and you have a nice fluffy soil its time to water.
If you stick your finger down the side of a 5gal pot and its 2 knuckle dry, probably time to water unless your 1 previous was a flush.

Practice makes perfect.

Well I think I found the culprit. I tested my spray bottle I use for foliar feed and it tested a ph of 5.0!!!
You know this might be in need of it's own thread, but man foliar feeding is like Voo Doo magic with very little data to constitute it's usage. It basically just generates income for the shops, and manufacturers.

Mari Jane isn't really designed to absorb nutes, or minerals through it's leaves. It can do so in a very limited capacity, but in a grow room you'd never need it, and think about the possible negatives? The way foliar feeding works is you are allowing the stomata to absorb nutrients. That's not really what they are there for, they are to exchange Co2 to oxygen, and just breathe. The system the plant uses to draw nutes, and water through the roots depend on the stomata as well! I think the risk of clogging the stomata, burning the leaves, uncontrolled moisture, and a myriad of other negative possibilities (look at your example!) far outweigh any perceived benefits. Plants just don't eat like that, and there is no reason to mess with it. You should have no problem delivering all your plants needs through the root system. Just look at the way the thing was designed by nature! Your time would be much better spent trying to deliver MAX air exchange, >75 degree temps, 5000 lumens a sq foot, proper PH for your medium, and a great root system. If you nail those five things you can deliver a tremendous amount of nutes to your plant. I feed very heavy, but I've got plants that can actually utilize it

I have used foliars before, but just for a few specific reasons when I had to deliver something to the plant in a pinch.
