2x2x5 Secret Jardin - Single Blue Dream in Soil

Hey guys. This is my first real grow, using a Secret Jardin 2x2x5 tent, with a Mars Hydro 300 LED. The strain is Blue Dream, and the medium is soil. I plan on growing just one plant, and topping and scrogging it. Also, the current temp is 28 degrees celcius/82 degrees fahrenheit - And around 30% humidity. The pan in the tent is my attempt at raising the humidity.

And made the following changes because of the thread; moved the oscillating fan down to floor level.

Advice and tips are very welcome!


Blue Dream, day 5 after sprouting

The light + top of tent (I removed some stuff and put the oscilating fan down below, I heard that would be better)


My grow tent setup (The fan is not blowing directly on the seedling, just moving air just enough for the leaves to wiggle a tiny tiny bit)




I'm a tad late on starting the journal, so I'll post day 6 (yesterday) here as well.



Today is day 7 after sprouting, so I guess I'll post an updated picture in a few.

Day 7, temp resting at 27 degrees celcius, and RH is at 35% (slowly rising). I watered today, and put in a bit more soil on the top.



In case anyone is wondering what the tiny white thing is, on the leaf.. It's a tiny tiny piece of paper. The plant was wet after watering so I gently dried it with some paper, to avoid burning it through the water? That's a thing, right?

Good call topping up with soil!
I'm a following this journal...watching your Blue Dream, I've not grown one, but have heard they can stretch a bit, so a Scrog is probably a good idea...

i have the same tent, and let me tell you, it is SMALL. I recommend you dont bother with a net like a scrog and just focus on keeping an even canopy from the start. It provides the same idea, just pinch and top till its an even canopy instead of bending the plants under a net. The reason i recommend this is the tent is so small that you will really struggle to control the plant's branches twords the back of the tent because it will be really difficult to get to. I run one large plant in my tent and its nearly impossible for me to trim or prune the back branches of the plant, a scrog takes a lot of manipulation of the plant and it will be very difficult in this tiny tent. I tried it and found it is much easier to just keep an even canopy and stake large buds that are not getting enough support.

Right? It looks a lot better, and probably for the best. I love having the leaves close to the soil, not so much stretch. And thanks for the warning. According to Humboldt seeds Blue Dream can get up to 10-13 feet outside. That's insane.

Alright guess I'll stick with topping. Should be a lot easier to maintain. Thanks for the tip! Out of curiosity, how much do you normally get from 1 plant in this tent? And with what kind of light?

400w HPS about a gram a watt depending on strain on a 8-10 week cycle. I veg for 10+ weeks on each plant i flower so they fill the entire tent.

I'm probably going to play it safe, since it's my first grow, and not let it get too high in veg. Also, if I can get just 1/10th of what you're making per plant I'll be happy...

If u have space you should buy a cheap florescent like a t5 and make a little area you can veg in while you flower in the tent. this way by the time your tent is done u have a nice developed plant to put right into flower. The vag area honestky only has to be big enough for a strip light and a small plant.

I have a 2x4x5 and I have 3 plants in it in 3g pots. Very tight.
You're going to have to learn quickly, as I have, about topping, LST, and supercropping. Once she starts taking off you'll see how fast hey recover.
One important note. I had my fan/filter in the tent up top as well but when my one plant stretched 3x I had to rearrange. I have a 600w cool tube. The fan/filter is on the right side. The rest of the ducting are passive intakes (covered with panty hose).
Just some options should it arise.

I don't have space. :/ Maybe I could build a tiny clone box below my bed or something clever. How would it work though? I take a cutting before flowering my plant, then my clone/cutting just chills under a T5 for a few weeks until flowering + drying is done? Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the warnings haha, I'm going to play it very safe and give it plenty of space before flowering it. Still going to top it hard though, make it a short bushy MF.

Day numero 8; took the plant out of the LED to get a proper picture. It's starting to look decent! Also, question for you experienced growers.. How do I know if the plant is too close to the LED?

Also, is it about time to start nuting a bit?

Also, before anyone get worried, the white stuff is still just paper, stuck after I tried to dry it off (It had drops of water all over, I didn't want to get it burnt')

You have minimal stretching going on, quite impressive really, so I guess your light is just fine. Although I have to say I've never used an LED (partly why I'm following this here journal ;) ) so don't take my word for it. But "If it ain't broke; don't fix it"...?
If the cotyledons haven't faded as yet then I think you can hold off feeding for a little time...

Awesome! I'm liking the way it looks at the moment as well. And I guess you're right. I just don't want to risk burning it.. But I don't want it to stretch either. :/ I'm using this for reference http://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-light-burn

I assume cotyledons are the tiny tiny leaves below the main leaves?

Cool. So it says 3 weeks before you'll need nutes. I'd say wait 4.
Then start your nutes at 1/4 strength and work your way up.
I was told to never go above 3/4 strength but I have no experience with that.
Also alternate feedings with plain water. Some say water 2x. So Feed Water Water Feed etc.
You'll watch the leaf tips for nute burn. If you get that, then back off the amount and you should be good to go.
Sorry one more thing. Keep using the grow nutes for the first 2-3 weeks of flower. The girls will need the extra nitrogen.
