It'll work but as the girls will be getting completely pollinated they will stop growing many new flowers and use all their energy to grow seeds. If you only want say 50 seeds or so then I'd separate the male and collect his pollen then dust some lower buds on the girls. That way the bulk of the girls will grow big fat colas that you can harvest when they are ripe and just leave the dusted buds on the plant until they are ripe and take them then.
You can just take a branch off the male, stick it in a glass of water under a couple of 2700K CFLs in a closet with tin foil under the branch to catch the pollen on. Clean any flower bits out of the pollen and save it in a vial or small jar then use a tiny paint brush or Q-Tip to carefully dust some buds with the fans off overnight. Then spray some water on the dusted buds and around the floor where pollen may have landed to deactivate it and carry on as usual. Seeds take 4 - 6 weeks to ripen and will be fat and dark maybe mottled and some will be splitting the calyxes they are in.
I've done it dozens of times so I know it works well.
